3. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the machine from its packaging. Ensure all components are present: coffee machine, Aeroccino3, water tank, drip tray, and instruction manual.
  2. Positioning: Place the machine on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface, away from water splashes and heat sources.
  3. Rinsing the Water Tank: Before first use, wash the water tank with fresh drinking water.
  4. Filling the Water Tank: Fill the water tank with fresh drinking water up to the MAX level.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the machine into a grounded power outlet.
  6. First Use Rinse:
    • Turn on the machine by pressing either the Espresso or Lungo button. The buttons will blink while heating up (approximately 25 seconds).
    • Once the buttons are steady, place a container (at least 0.5L) under the coffee outlet.
    • Press the Lungo button to run water through the system. Repeat this process three times to clean the internal components.
    • Your machine is now ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

Making Coffee:

  1. Power On: Ensure the machine is plugged in and turned on. The Espresso and Lungo buttons will illuminate steadily when ready.
  2. Fill Water Tank: Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh drinking water.
  3. Insert Capsule: Lift the lever completely and insert a Nespresso capsule into the capsule slot. Close the lever firmly.

  4. Place Cup: Place a cup under the coffee outlet. Adjust the cup support if needed for larger cups.
  5. Select Coffee Size:
    • Press the Espresso button for a small cup (40 ml).
    • Press the Lungo button for a larger cup (110 ml).
    The coffee preparation will start and stop automatically.
  6. Eject Capsule: After brewing, lift the lever to eject the used capsule into the integrated capsule container.

Using the Aeroccino3 Milk Frother:

The integrated Aeroccino3 allows you to prepare hot milk froth, cold milk froth, or hot milk.

  1. Preparation: Ensure the Aeroccino3 is clean and dry. Insert the whisk for frothing or remove it for hot milk only.
  2. Fill Milk: Pour fresh, cold milk into the Aeroccino3. Do not exceed the MAX level indicators (lower MAX for froth, upper MAX for hot milk).
  3. Close Lid: Place the lid on the Aeroccino3.
  4. Start Frothing/Heating:
    • For hot milk froth or hot milk: Briefly press the button. The button will illuminate red.
    • For cold milk froth: Press and hold the button for approximately 2 seconds. The button will illuminate blue.
    The Aeroccino3 will stop automatically when ready.
  5. Pour Milk: Carefully pour the frothed or heated milk into your coffee.

5. Maintenance

Daily Cleaning:

  • Drip Tray & Capsule Container: Empty and rinse the drip tray and used capsule container daily. Wash with warm water and mild detergent.
  • Water Tank: Rinse the water tank with fresh water daily.
  • Coffee Outlet: After each use, run a Lungo cycle without a capsule to rinse the coffee outlet.
  • Aeroccino3: Immediately after each use, clean the Aeroccino3. Remove the whisk and rinse all parts with warm water. Use a non-abrasive sponge. The Aeroccino3 is not dishwasher safe.

Descaling:

Descaling is crucial for maintaining your machine's performance and ensuring optimal coffee temperature. The descaling frequency depends on water hardness and usage.

  1. Refer to the Nespresso descaling kit instructions for detailed steps.
  2. Empty the drip tray and used capsule container.
  3. Fill the water tank with the Nespresso descaling solution and water as per the kit instructions.
  4. Place a large container (at least 1L) under the coffee outlet.
  5. Follow the specific descaling procedure for your CitiZ machine, usually involving pressing both coffee buttons simultaneously for a few seconds to enter descaling mode, then pressing one button to start the cycle.
  6. Rinse the machine thoroughly after descaling by running several cycles with fresh water.

6. Troubleshooting
