Setup and Mounting
The Hotshot SL-50 comes with a secured hard mount for easy installation on your bicycle's seat post.
- Attach the Mount: Wrap the seat post mount around your bicycle's seat post.
- Secure the Mount: Use a screwdriver to tighten the screw on the mount until it is firmly in place and does not move.
- Adjust Pitch (Optional): The mount allows for adjustment of the up and down pitch to optimize the light's angle for visibility. Adjust as desired.
- Attach the Light: Slide the Hotshot SL-50 tail light down onto the secured mount until it snaps into place. Ensure it is securely fastened.

Operating Instructions
The Hotshot SL-50 features a two-button control system for easy operation.
Button Functions:
- Left Button (Power/Mode Select):
- Press to turn the light ON/OFF.
- Press repeatedly to cycle through the different lighting modes.
- Right Button (Adjust):
- Press and hold to adjust the flash speed in flashing modes.
- Press and hold to adjust the brightness in steady modes.

Lighting Modes:
The Hotshot SL-50 offers 6 distinct lighting modes for various conditions:
- Steady: Constant illumination.
- Zoom: A pulsating steady beam.
- SteadyPulse: Alerts motorists with attention-grabbing pulses while maintaining a constant beam to help gauge distance.
- Triple Flash: Three quick flashes followed by a pause.
- DayLightning Flash: High-visibility flash pattern optimized for daytime use.
- Random Flash: Irregular flash pattern for increased noticeability.

Adjusting Flash Speed and Brightness:
Cygolite's patented OSP technology allows for user-tuneable flash speed and brightness.
- To Adjust Flash Speed (Flashing Modes): While in any flashing mode, press and hold the Right Button. The flash speed will gradually increase or decrease. Release the button when the desired speed is reached.
- To Adjust Brightness (Steady Mode): While in Steady mode, press and hold the Right Button. The brightness will gradually dim or brighten. Release the button when the desired brightness is reached.
The light features a mode memory function, recalling the last mode used when turned back on.
Charging
The Hotshot SL-50 is USB rechargeable. A low battery indicator will alert you when charging is needed.
- Locate Charging Port: The mini USB charging port is located on the side of the light, protected by a rubber cover.
- Connect Cable: Open the rubber cover and connect the supplied mini USB charging cable to the light and to a USB power source (e.g., computer, wall adapter).
- Charging Indicator: The light will indicate charging status (e.g., solid light for charging, off when fully charged).
- Charge Time: Refer to specifications for approximate charging times.
- Disconnect: Once fully charged, disconnect the cable and ensure the rubber cover is securely closed to maintain water resistance.
Maintenance

- Water Resistance: The light is IP64 water resistant. Ensure the USB port cover is securely closed to prevent water ingress. Avoid submerging the light in water.

Troubleshooting
- Light Not Turning On:
- Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a USB power source.
- Press and hold the Left Button for a full second to ensure it registers.
- Light Not Holding Charge:
- Verify the mini USB cable is properly connected to both the light and the power source.
- Try a different USB cable or power source.

- Mount Not Secure:
- Ensure the screw on the seat post mount is tightened sufficiently.
