Maintenance
Cleaning the Remote
To maintain the remote's appearance and functionality, clean it regularly:
- Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface of the remote.
- For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaning pads, as these can damage the remote's finish or internal components.
Battery Replacement
Replace batteries when the remote's response becomes sluggish or stops working. Always replace both batteries at the same time with new AAA batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries, as this can lead to leakage or damage.
Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your VIZIO XRT122 remote control, refer to the following common solutions:
- Remote not responding:
- Check if the batteries are inserted correctly with the correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the batteries with new AAA batteries.
- Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote control and the TV's infrared sensor.
- Point the remote directly at the TV.
- Specific buttons not working:
- Clean the remote's surface, especially around the problematic buttons, to remove any dirt or debris that might be interfering with button presses.
- If only specific app buttons (XUMO, Netflix, iHeartRadio) are not working, ensure your TV is connected to the internet and the apps are properly installed and updated on your VIZIO Smart TV.
- Remote range is limited:
- Ensure batteries are fresh. Weak batteries can reduce the remote's effective range.
- Minimize strong light sources (like direct sunlight or bright fluorescent lights) that might interfere with the infrared signal.
- TV not listed as compatible:
- This remote is specifically designed for the VIZIO models listed in the Introduction section. While it may work with some other VIZIO TVs, full functionality is not guaranteed for unlisted models.
