Setup Guide

1. Assembling the Phone

  1. Attach the Stand: Align the stand with the slots on the back of the phone and push firmly until it clicks into place. The stand allows for adjustable viewing angles.
  2. Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the handset port on the back of the phone.

2. Connecting to Network and Power

The VVX 411 supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), eliminating the need for a separate power adapter if your network supports it.

  1. Network Connection: Connect one end of the provided CAT-5E Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the back of the phone and the other end to your network switch or router.
  2. PC Connection (Optional): If you wish to connect a computer through the phone, connect a second Ethernet cable from the PC port on the back of the phone to your computer's network port.
  3. Power: If using PoE, the phone will power on automatically once connected to the network. If PoE is not available, a separate power adapter (not included) must be connected to the power port on the back of the phone.

Operating Instructions

Basic Call Functions

  • Making a Call: Pick up the handset or press the Speakerphone button. Dial the number and press the Dial soft key or wait for automatic dialing.
  • Answering a Call: Pick up the handset, press the Speakerphone button, or press the Answer soft key.
  • Ending a Call: Hang up the handset or press the End Call soft key.
  • Holding a Call: During an active call, press the Hold soft key. To resume, press the Resume soft key.
  • Transferring a Call: During an active call, press the Transfer soft key. Dial the number to transfer to, then press the Transfer soft key again (for blind transfer) or wait for the party to answer and then press Transfer (for supervised transfer).

Using Line Keys and Soft Keys

The VVX 411 features 12 line keys and 4 context-sensitive soft keys.

  • Line Keys: These keys illuminate to indicate line status (e.g., idle, ringing, active, held). Press a line key to select a line for dialing or to answer a call on that line.
  • Soft Keys: The functions of the four soft keys located directly below the display change based on the phone's current state (e.g., idle, on a call, in a menu). Common functions include Dial, Answer, Hold, Transfer, Conference, and End Call.

Display Navigation

The 3.5-inch color display provides access to various phone features and settings.

  • Use the Navigation Cluster (directional pad) to scroll through menus and options on the display.
  • Press the Select button in the center of the navigation cluster to confirm a selection.
  • The Home button returns you to the main idle screen.
  • The Back button navigates to the previous screen or menu.

Headset Usage

The VVX 411 supports various headset types (sold separately).

  • RJ9 Headset: Plug the headset into the dedicated RJ9 headset port on the back of the phone. Press the Headset button to toggle between headset and speakerphone/handset.
  • USB Headset: Connect a compatible USB headset to the USB port on the phone.
  • Electronic Hook Switch (EHS): For wireless headsets with EHS support, connect the EHS cable (sold separately) to the phone to enable remote call control.

Audio Quality Features

  • Poly HD Voice: Provides high-definition audio for clearer conversations.
  • Poly Acoustic Fence: Reduces background noise for participants on the far end of the call, creating a virtual "acoustic fence" around the speaker.
  • Full Duplex Speakerphone: Allows both parties to speak and be heard simultaneously without audio cutoff.

Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your VVX 411 phone:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the phone's surface and display. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Environment: Keep the phone away from excessive heat, direct sunlight, and moisture. Ensure proper ventilation.
  • Cables: Periodically check all cable connections to ensure they are secure.

Troubleshooting
