1. Product Overview
The Escali DR1 Digital Kitchen Timer is designed for precise time management in various settings. It features an extra-large display for easy readability, countdown and count-up functions, a clock mode, and convenient mounting options.

2. Setup
2.1 Battery Installation
The Escali DR1 timer requires one (1) AAA battery (included). To install or replace the battery:
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the timer.
- Slide the cover downwards to open the compartment.
- Insert one AAA battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Slide the cover back into place until it clicks securely.

2.2 Placement Options
The timer offers two convenient placement methods:
- Magnetic Back: Utilize the strong magnet on the back of the timer to attach it to metallic surfaces such as refrigerators or ovens.
- Kickstand: Extend the built-in kickstand on the back to place the timer upright on any flat surface, including countertops or tables.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Button Functions
- M Button: Used to set minutes for the timer or adjust hours in clock mode.
- S Button: Used to set seconds for the timer or adjust minutes in clock mode.
- START/STOP Button: Initiates or pauses the timer.
- CLEAR Function: Pressing the M and S buttons simultaneously clears the current timer setting.
3.2 Setting the Clock
When the timer is not actively counting, it displays the time in clock mode. The format can be 12-hour or 24-hour.
- To adjust the time, press and hold the START/STOP button for approximately 3 seconds until the hour digits begin to flash.
- Press the M button to adjust the hours.
- Press the S button to adjust the minutes.
- Press the START/STOP button again to confirm the time and exit setting mode.
- To switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format, press the M button while the hours are flashing.
3.3 Setting a Countdown Timer
The maximum countdown time is 99 minutes and 59 seconds.
- Ensure the timer display shows "00 M 00 S". If not, press the M and S buttons simultaneously to clear any previous setting.
- Press the M button repeatedly to set the desired minutes. Hold the button for faster adjustment.
- Press the S button repeatedly to set the desired seconds. Hold the button for faster adjustment.
- Press the START/STOP button to begin the countdown.
3.4 Starting, Pausing, and Stopping the Timer
- To start the timer after setting, press the START/STOP button.
- To pause the timer during countdown, press the START/STOP button once. The display will flash.
- To resume the timer, press the START/STOP button again.
- To stop the timer and reset it to the last set time, press the START/STOP button while the timer is paused.
3.5 Clearing the Timer
To clear the current timer setting and return the display to "00 M 00 S", press the M and S buttons simultaneously.
3.6 Recall Last Timer Setting
The timer can recall the last set countdown time. After the timer has been cleared or stopped, press the START/STOP button once to display the previously set time. This is useful for repetitive tasks.
3.7 Count-Up (Stopwatch) Function
To use the timer as a stopwatch:
- Ensure the timer display shows "00 M 00 S". If not, press the M and S buttons simultaneously to clear any previous setting.
- Press the START/STOP button. The timer will begin counting upwards from "00 M 00 S".
- Press the START/STOP button to pause the count-up.
- Press the START/STOP button again to resume or press M and S simultaneously to clear.
3.8 Alarm and LED Indicator
When the countdown timer reaches zero, an audible alarm will sound, and the red LED indicator light will flash to signal that the set time has elapsed. Press any button to silence the alarm.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
To clean the timer, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water. Ensure the timer is dry before storage or next use.
4.2 Battery Replacement
Replace the AAA battery when the display becomes dim or the timer functions erratically. Refer to section 2.1 for battery installation instructions.
4.3 Storage
Store the timer in a cool, dry place when not in use. If storing for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the battery to prevent leakage.
5. Troubleshooting
- Display is blank or dim: Check if the battery is installed correctly and has sufficient power. Replace the AAA battery if necessary.
- Timer not responding to button presses: Ensure the battery is properly seated. Try removing and reinserting the battery to perform a soft reset.
- Alarm not sounding: Verify that the timer is counting down correctly. If the display shows "00 M 00 S" and the LED flashes but no sound, the speaker may be obstructed or faulty.
- Timer does not turn off: The Escali DR1 timer is designed to always display either the timer or the clock. It does not have a dedicated power-off button. To conserve battery during long periods of non-use, remove the battery.
