Setup

1. Unboxing

2. Initial Charge

Your Eco-Drive watch is powered by light. For optimal performance, it requires an initial full charge. Place the watch in direct sunlight or under a bright fluorescent lamp for approximately 8-12 hours. Avoid placing it on a windowsill where it might overheat.

  • Sunlight: Approximately 8 hours for a full charge.
  • Fluorescent Lamp (30W, 20cm away): Approximately 40 hours for a full charge.

A low power indicator (second hand moving in two-second intervals) signifies that the watch needs charging.

3. Setting Time and Date

  1. Pull out the crown: Gently pull the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) out to the first click position to set the date, or to the second click position to set the time.
  2. Set the Date/Day:
    • For date, turn the crown clockwise.
    • For day, turn the crown counter-clockwise.
    • Avoid setting the date/day between 9:00 PM and 4:00 AM, as this may damage the mechanism.
  3. Set the Time: Pull the crown out to the second click position. Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands. Push the crown back in to the normal position to start the watch.
  4. Synchronize with a reliable time source: For accuracy, set the time when the second hand reaches the 12 o'clock position.

Operating Your Watch

Wearing the Watch

Ensure the watch fits comfortably on your wrist. The stainless steel bracelet can be adjusted by adding or removing links by a qualified jeweler or watch technician.

Daily Use and Charging

Your Eco-Drive watch charges continuously when exposed to light. For daily wear, normal exposure to ambient light is usually sufficient to maintain a charge. If the watch is stored in darkness for extended periods, it may stop. Simply expose it to light to resume operation.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures (below 0°C or above 60°C).
  • Do not place the watch directly on a heat source.

Maintenance

Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or abrasive materials.

Water Resistance (WR100)

Your Citizen AW0050-82E watch is rated WR100, meaning it is water resistant to 10 Bar or 100 meters. This makes it suitable for daily use, swimming, and snorkeling. It is not suitable for scuba diving.

  • Always ensure the crown is pushed in completely before exposing the watch to water.
  • Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.
  • After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry thoroughly.

Storage

When storing your watch for extended periods, ensure it is exposed to light periodically to maintain its charge. Avoid storing it in extreme temperatures or high humidity.
