2. Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, especially when children are present, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

4. Setup and Assembly

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging.
  2. Assemble Pole: Insert the telescoping pole into the base unit. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
  3. Attach Hanger: Slide the garment hanger onto the top of the telescoping pole.
  4. Attach Hose: Connect the steam hose to the designated port on the base unit. Twist until it is firmly attached.
  5. Fill Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the base. Unscrew the cap and fill with distilled water up to the MAX fill line. Replace the cap and securely place the tank back into the base.
  6. Position Steamer: Place the steamer on a flat, stable surface.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Preparing for Steaming

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled with distilled water.
  2. Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
  3. Hang the garment on the integrated hanger. For pants, use the clips provided on the telescoping pole to hold them taut.
  4. Adjust the telescoping pole to the desired height for comfortable steaming.

5.2 Steaming Garments

  1. Turn on the steamer using the power switch located at the base. The indicator light will illuminate.
  2. Allow approximately 45 seconds for the steamer to heat up and produce steam.
  3. Hold the T-nozzle a few inches away from the fabric. Gently glide the nozzle over the garment, moving from top to bottom.
  4. For stubborn wrinkles, hold the fabric taut with one hand while steaming with the other.
  5. The steamer provides up to 70 minutes of continuous steam.
  6. When finished, turn off the steamer and unplug it from the outlet.

5.3 Steaming Other Fabrics

The Conair GS28NXC is versatile and can be used on various household fabrics:

  • Curtains and Drapes: Steam directly on the rod.
  • Upholstery: Hold the nozzle slightly away from the fabric and move slowly.
  • Bedding: Can be used to refresh mattresses and bedding.

6. Care and Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Steamer

  1. Always unplug the steamer and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Empty any remaining water from the tank after each use.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the steamer with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  4. Periodically clean the steam nozzle to prevent mineral buildup.

6.2 Descaling (Mineral Buildup Removal)

Over time, mineral deposits from water can build up in the steamer, affecting performance. To descale:

  1. Mix a solution of 1/4 white vinegar and 3/4 distilled water.
  2. Pour the solution into the water tank.
  3. Run the steamer until half of the solution has been used.
  4. Turn off and unplug the steamer, allowing it to cool for 30 minutes.
  5. Repeat the steaming process with the remaining solution.
  6. Empty the tank and rinse thoroughly with fresh distilled water.
  7. Run the steamer with a full tank of fresh distilled water to flush out any remaining vinegar.

6.3 Storage

When not in use, store the steamer in a cool, dry place. Utilize the cord wrap storage feature to keep the power cord tidy.
