Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install the interior light in your Reko Combine model train car:

  1. Prepare the Car: Carefully open your Reko Combine model train car according to its specific manufacturer's instructions to access the interior. Ensure the car is clean and free of debris.
  2. Install Conductive Strips: Attach the four conductive strips to the designated areas on the underside of the car's roof or floor, depending on the car's design, to make contact with the track power pickups.
  3. Mount Circuit Boards:
    • Position PLATINE 1 (board 1) at one end of the car's interior. This board typically handles power input and initial distribution.
    • Position PLATINE 2 (board 2) in the middle section.
    • Position PLATINE 3 (board 3) at the opposite end.
    • Secure the boards using the provided mounting screws in the pre-drilled holes, if available, or with appropriate adhesive if screws are not suitable for your car's interior.
  4. Connect Boards: Use the short connection wires to link PLATINE 1 to PLATINE 2, and PLATINE 2 to PLATINE 3. Ensure the connectors are firmly seated.
  5. Connect Auxiliary Board (PLATINE 4): Connect PLATINE 4 (board 4) to the main lighting circuit, typically to PLATINE 1 or PLATINE 2, as indicated by the labels on the boards (e.g., "PLATINE 4" connection point). This board may handle specific functions or additional lighting elements.
  6. Connect to Track Power: Use the long connection wires to connect the "DIGITAL GLEIS RECHTS / track right" and "DIGITAL GLEIS LINKS / track left" terminals on PLATINE 1 to the corresponding power pickups from the track. For analog operation, these terminals also serve as power input.
  7. Function Contact (Optional): If your model car supports a function decoder or additional functions, connect the "FUNKTIONSAUSGANG / function contact" terminal on PLATINE 1 to the appropriate output on your decoder.
  8. Test Installation: Before reassembling the car, carefully place it on the track and apply power to test the interior light. Ensure all sections illuminate correctly.
  9. Reassemble Car: Once satisfied with the installation and functionality, carefully reassemble your Reko Combine model train car.

Operating Instructions

The Piko 36138 G Scale Interior Light is designed to illuminate when power is supplied to the track. Its operation is directly tied to the power status of your model railway system.

  • Analog Operation: The light will illuminate as soon as sufficient voltage is applied to the track. The brightness may vary with track voltage.
  • Digital Operation: The light will illuminate when the track is powered by a digital command station. If connected to a function output of a decoder, the light can be switched on/off via your digital controller. Refer to your decoder's manual for specific function mapping.

Maintenance

The Piko 36138 G Scale Interior Light requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure longevity:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the circuit boards and LEDs with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth if dust accumulates. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Handling: Avoid touching the LED components directly. Handle the circuit boards by their edges.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the model car in a dry, dust-free environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
