2. Package Contents
Before you begin, please verify that all items are present in the package:

3. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your SPC Elegance ID telephone:
- Battery Installation: The telephone requires 3 AAA batteries for certain features like display backlight and memory retention. Open the battery compartment on the underside of the phone and insert 3 AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment securely.
- Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the jack labeled with a handset icon on the side or back of the telephone base.
- Connect to Telephone Line: Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the LINE jack on the back of the telephone base and the other end into your wall telephone jack.
- Initial Power On: Once connected, the display should illuminate, and the clock/date may appear. You may need to set the date and time (refer to Section 4.5).

4. Operating Instructions
This section details the basic functions and features of your telephone.
4.1 Making and Receiving Calls
- To Make a Call: Lift the handset or press the Speakerphone button. Dial the desired number using the keypad.
- To Receive a Call: When the phone rings, lift the handset or press the Speakerphone button to answer.
- To End a Call: Place the handset back on the cradle or press the Speakerphone button again if using handsfree.
4.2 Speakerphone Function
The telephone features a built-in speakerphone for hands-free communication.
- Press the Speakerphone button to activate hands-free mode during a call or to dial a number without lifting the handset.
- Press the Speakerphone button again to deactivate.
4.3 Volume Control and Mute
- Volume Control: Use the Volume Up/Down buttons (usually indicated by arrows) during a call to adjust the listening volume.
- Microphone Mute: Press the Mute button to temporarily disable your microphone during a call. The other party will not hear you. Press it again to unmute.
4.4 Phonebook and Call Management
- Phonebook: The phone has a capacity for 70 phonebook entries. Refer to the on-screen menu for instructions on adding, editing, and deleting contacts.
- Caller ID: If subscribed to Caller ID service, the display will show the incoming caller's number and name (if available) before you answer.
- Call Waiting: If subscribed to Call Waiting service, you will hear a tone if another call comes in while you are on the phone.
- Call Log: The phone stores up to 83 call log entries (incoming, outgoing, missed calls). Use the navigation buttons to scroll through the call log.
- Redialing: Press the Redial button to call the last dialed number.
4.5 Display and Melodies
- Backlit Display: The alphanumeric display features a backlight for improved visibility.
- Clock/Date Display: The display shows the current time and date. Refer to the menu settings to adjust these.
- Melodies: The phone offers 8 different melodies for incoming calls. You can select your preferred melody through the phone's settings menu.
5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your telephone, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Wipe the telephone unit and handset with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the surface.
- Battery Replacement: If the display dims or features requiring battery power stop working, replace the 3 AAA batteries. Ensure proper polarity.
- Environment: Keep the telephone away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture. Avoid dropping the unit.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your telephone, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Dial Tone:
- Ensure the telephone line cord is securely connected to both the phone and the wall jack.
- Test the wall jack with another working phone.
- No Display / Dim Display:
- Check if the 3 AAA batteries are correctly installed and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- Cannot Make/Receive Calls:
- Verify all connections (handset, line cord).
- Ensure your telephone service is active.
- Buttons Not Responding:
- Try disconnecting the phone from the line and power (if applicable) for a few minutes, then reconnect.
