3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Installation
The Kwikset Powerbolt 907 is designed for easy installation with basic tools, typically a screwdriver. It is compatible with standard door preparations.
- Door Thickness: Fits doors between 1-3/8 inches (35mm) and 1-3/4 inches (44mm) thick.
- Cross Bore: Requires a 2-1/8 inch (54mm) cross bore.
- Backset: Adjustable for 2-3/8 inches (60mm) or 2-3/4 inches (70mm) backset.

3.2 Battery Installation
The lock requires 4 AA alkaline batteries (not included). For optimal performance and battery life, use new, high-quality alkaline batteries. Battery life is approximately 12 months or longer with typical use.
3.3 Programming User Codes
The Powerbolt 907 allows for up to 6 unique custom user codes. Refer to the programming section of your quick start guide for specific steps to add, delete, or modify user codes. The keypad is illuminated for visibility in low-light conditions.

3.4 SmartKey Re-Keying
The SmartKey Security technology allows you to re-key your lock to an existing Kwikset key in seconds. This feature provides convenience and enhanced security against advanced break-in techniques.
- Insert the functioning key into the cylinder and turn it 90 degrees clockwise.
- Insert the SmartKey Reset Tool fully into the SmartKey hole. Apply firm pressure until you hear a "click."
- Remove the SmartKey Reset Tool.
- Remove the functioning key.
- Insert the new key you wish to use into the cylinder and turn it 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
- Remove the new key. The lock is now re-keyed.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Locking the Door
- One-Touch Locking: Press the "Lock" button (center button with padlock icon) on the keypad. The deadbolt will extend, securing the door.
- Auto-Locking: The deadbolt can be set to automatically lock after a period of 10 to 50 seconds following entry or exit. This feature can be configured during programming.
4.2 Unlocking the Door
- Keypad Entry: Enter your programmed user code on the keypad. The deadbolt will retract, allowing access.
- Manual Key Override: In case of battery depletion or if preferred, use one of the provided physical keys to manually unlock the deadbolt.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Battery Replacement
When the batteries are low, the lock will provide an audible and visual low battery warning. To replace batteries:
- Remove the interior cover of the deadbolt assembly.
- Carefully remove the old AA batteries.
- Insert 4 new AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Replace the interior cover.

5.2 Cleaning
Clean the lock with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish and electronic components.
