5.2 Installation Steps

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Locate and turn off the main water supply to your kitchen. Open existing taps to drain any remaining water.
  2. Prepare Mounting Hole: Ensure the mounting surface is clean and free of debris. The tap requires a single hole with a diameter of 35 mm.
  3. Install Tap: Insert the tap base into the mounting hole. Ensure the rubber gasket is correctly positioned between the tap base and the sink/countertop to create a watertight seal.
  4. Secure Tap: From underneath the sink, slide the metal washer and then the fixing nut onto the threaded rod of the tap. Tighten the fixing nut securely using an appropriate wrench. Do not overtighten.
  5. Connect Hoses: Attach the hot and cold water supply hoses to the corresponding inlets on the tap body. Hand-tighten first, then use a wrench to secure, ensuring not to overtighten. Connect the other ends of the hoses to your hot and cold water supply valves. Use PTFE tape on threaded connections if necessary to prevent leaks.
  6. Check for Leaks: Slowly turn on the main water supply. Check all connections for any signs of leaks. If leaks are present, turn off the water supply and re-tighten the connections.
  7. Flush System: Once installed and checked for leaks, open the tap to flush out any debris from the water lines. Run both hot and cold water for a few minutes.

6. Operation

The Franke Pola Kitchen Tap features a single lever control for both water flow and temperature.

  • Water Flow: Lift the lever upwards to increase water flow. Push it downwards to decrease flow and turn off the tap.
  • Water Temperature: Move the lever to the left for hot water and to the right for cold water. Adjust the position between left and right to achieve the desired temperature.
  • Swivel Spout: The tap features a 360° swivel spout, allowing you to direct the water flow across your sink area as needed.
  • Perlator: The spout is fitted with a Perlator, which mixes air into the water stream to provide a champagne-like flow, reducing splash and conserving water.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning the Tap

  • To maintain the polished chrome finish, clean the tap regularly with a soft cloth and mild soap or a non-abrasive cleaner specifically designed for chrome.
  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.
  • Avoid using abrasive sponges, scouring pads, or harsh chemical cleaners, as these can scratch or damage the finish.

7.2 Perlator Cleaning

  • Over time, mineral deposits can build up in the Perlator (aerator) at the end of the spout, affecting water flow.
  • Unscrew the Perlator from the spout.
  • Rinse it under running water and gently brush away any deposits. For stubborn deposits, soak the Perlator in a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water for a few hours.
  • Reattach the clean Perlator to the spout.
