This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your PARTS-QUICK 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333MHz DIMM RAM upgrade kit. This memory kit is specifically designed for compatibility with ASUS CM6340 Desktop systems. Please read all instructions carefully before proceeding with installation.
Important Safety Information
- Always power off and unplug your computer from the electrical outlet before opening the case or installing any internal components.
- Discharge static electricity from your body by touching a grounded metal object (e.g., the metal chassis of your computer) before handling memory modules. Static electricity can damage electronic components.
- Handle memory modules by their edges, avoiding contact with the gold connector pins.
- Ensure proper ventilation and avoid exposing components to extreme temperatures or humidity.
Package Contents
Verify that your package contains the following items:
- Two (2) 4GB DDR3 1333MHz DIMM RAM modules
Setup: RAM Installation
- Prepare Your System: Power down your ASUS CM6340 Desktop completely and unplug all cables (power, display, peripherals).
- Open the Computer Case: Refer to your ASUS CM6340 Desktop's user manual for instructions on how to safely open its case.
- Locate DIMM Slots: Identify the DDR3 DIMM slots on your motherboard. Your system typically has multiple slots. For optimal performance, install the two 4GB modules into matching color-coded slots or as recommended by your motherboard's manual for dual-channel operation.
- Prepare for Installation: Gently push the white retaining clips at each end of the DIMM slot outwards to unlock them.
- Insert RAM Module: Hold the RAM module by its edges. Align the notch on the bottom edge of the RAM module with the key in the DIMM slot. This ensures correct orientation.
- Secure RAM Module: Place the module into the slot and apply firm, even pressure to both ends of the module simultaneously until the retaining clips snap back into place, securing the module. Do not force the module if it does not fit; recheck the alignment.
- Repeat for Second Module: Install the second 4GB RAM module into the appropriate slot following steps 4-6.

Before installation, ensure the computer is powered off and unplugged. Touch a grounded metal object to discharge static electricity.

Align the RAM module with the DIMM slot, ensuring the notch on the module matches the key in the slot. Press down firmly on both ends until the retaining clips snap into place.
- Close the Computer Case: Once both modules are securely installed, close the computer case.
- Reconnect Cables: Plug all cables back into your computer.
Operating: Verifying Installation
After installation, power on your computer. The system should automatically detect the new memory. You can verify the installed RAM in the following ways:
- BIOS/UEFI Setup: During startup, press the designated key (often Del, F2, F10, or F12) to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup. Look for a system information or memory section to confirm the total installed RAM.
- Operating System:
- Windows: Right-click on 'This PC' or 'My Computer', select 'Properties'. The 'Installed RAM' will be displayed.
- Linux: Open a terminal and type
free -horcat /proc/meminfo.
Maintenance
RAM modules are generally maintenance-free. To ensure longevity and optimal performance:
- Keep your computer's interior clean and free of dust. Dust buildup can impede airflow and lead to overheating.
- Ensure adequate ventilation for your computer to prevent excessive heat buildup, which can affect all internal components.
- Avoid unnecessary physical contact with the RAM modules once installed.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues after installing the RAM, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
- System Not Booting / No Display:
- Ensure the RAM modules are fully seated in their slots and the retaining clips are locked.
- Try installing only one module at a time to identify if one module is faulty.
- Verify that the modules are installed in the correct slots as per your motherboard's manual for dual-channel configuration.
- RAM Not Recognized / Incorrect Amount Displayed:
- Check BIOS/UEFI settings to ensure the memory is detected.
- Ensure your operating system is 64-bit to fully utilize 8GB of RAM. 32-bit operating systems can typically only address up to 4GB.
- Update your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI to the latest version, as this can improve memory compatibility.
- System Instability / Blue Screens:
- Run a memory diagnostic tool (e.g., Windows Memory Diagnostic or MemTest86) to check for errors.
- Ensure your system's power supply unit (PSU) is sufficient for all installed components.
