Setup

Initial Charge

Your Citizen Eco-Drive watch is powered by light. Before first use, or if the watch has stopped, ensure it is fully charged.

  1. Place the watch in direct sunlight or under a bright artificial light source.
  2. For a full charge, expose the watch to direct sunlight for approximately 8-10 hours. For indoor light, it may take significantly longer (e.g., 40-50 hours under a fluorescent lamp).
  3. The second hand will move normally once sufficient charge is accumulated. If the second hand moves in 2-second intervals, it indicates a low power warning and requires charging.

Setting Time and Date

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click for date adjustment, or to the second click for time adjustment.
  2. To set the date: Pull the crown out to the first click. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise until the desired date appears. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM, as this may damage the date mechanism.
  3. To set the time: Pull the crown out to the second click. Turn the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Push the crown back in to the normal position to start the watch.

Adjusting the Bracelet

The stainless steel bracelet can be adjusted by adding or removing links. This procedure typically requires specialized tools and is best performed by a qualified jeweler or watch repair professional to avoid damage.

Operating the Watch

Basic Timekeeping

Once set and charged, your Eco-Drive watch will continuously keep accurate time. The second hand moves in 1-second intervals when fully charged.

Date Display

The watch features a date display window. The date automatically advances at midnight. If the watch stops due to insufficient charge, the date may need to be reset once the watch is recharged and running.

Water Resistance

This watch is rated for 100 meters (330 feet) water resistance. This makes it suitable for swimming and showering, but not for diving. Do not operate the crown or push buttons when the watch is wet or submerged.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Wipe the watch case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and perspiration.
  • For water-resistant models, you can use a slightly damp cloth. Ensure the crown is pushed in completely before wiping.
  • Avoid using chemical cleaners, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the watch's finish.

Charging Guidelines

To maintain optimal performance, expose your Eco-Drive watch to light regularly. Avoid storing the watch in dark places for extended periods, as this can lead to a complete discharge and require a longer recharge time.

Storage

When storing the watch for a long period, ensure it is exposed to light periodically to prevent complete discharge. Store it in a place where it can receive ambient light.
