3.2 Shutter Speed and Aperture
The Fuji STX-2 supports both manual and automatic exposure control. In manual mode, you set both the shutter speed (via the dial on top) and the aperture (via the ring on the lens) to achieve the desired exposure. In automatic mode, the camera's light meter assists in setting the correct exposure.
3.3 Focusing
Look through the viewfinder. Rotate the focus ring on the lens until the image appears sharp and clear. Many SLR cameras include a split-image or microprism focusing aid in the center of the viewfinder to assist with precise focusing.
3.4 Taking a Picture
- Compose your shot through the viewfinder.
- Adjust the focus until the subject is sharp.
- Set the appropriate shutter speed and aperture based on lighting conditions and desired effect.
- Gently press the shutter button all the way down to take the picture.
- Advance the film using the film advance lever to prepare for the next shot.
3.5 Film Rewinding and Unloading
- Once all frames on the film roll have been exposed, press the film rewind release button (usually on the bottom of the camera).
- Fold out the crank on the rewind knob and turn it clockwise until you feel the tension release, indicating the film has been fully rewound into its cassette.
- Pull up the rewind knob to open the camera back.
- Remove the film cassette from the chamber.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning the Camera Body
Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the camera body. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild cleaning solution. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Do not spray cleaners directly onto the camera.
4.2 Lens Care
Keep lens surfaces clean. Use a lens brush or a can of compressed air to remove dust. For smudges or fingerprints, use a specialized lens cleaning solution and a microfiber lens cloth. Clean in a circular motion from the center outwards. Avoid touching the lens elements with your fingers.
4.3 Storage
When not in use, store the Fuji STX-2 in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. It is advisable to store the camera with the lens cap on and, if storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Common Issues
- Film Not Advancing: Ensure the film leader is properly engaged with the take-up spool and sprockets. Check if the film rewind release button is accidentally pressed.
- No Shutter Release: Verify that the film advance lever is fully wound. Check battery status if the camera has electronic components for the shutter.
- Images Too Dark/Light: Review your shutter speed and aperture settings. Ensure the film's ISO/ASA is correctly set on the camera (if applicable). Check the light meter's functionality.
- Light Leaks on Film: Inspect the camera back's light seals for wear or damage.
