3. Initial Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Initial Charge

  1. Carefully remove the watch from its packaging.
  2. Expose the watch face to bright light (natural sunlight is ideal) for several hours to ensure a full initial charge. The watch is solar-powered and requires light exposure to operate.
  3. Avoid placing the watch in direct sunlight for extended periods in extremely hot environments to prevent damage.

3.2 Setting Your Home City

Your watch needs to know your Home City to correctly receive time calibration signals and display world time. Use the Smart Access crown for this setting.

  1. Pull out the crown to the first click.
  2. Rotate the crown to select your desired Home City code. The second hand will point to the selected city.
  3. Push the crown back in to confirm the setting.

3.3 Receiving Time Calibration Signal

After setting your Home City, the watch will attempt to receive a time calibration signal. This usually happens automatically overnight. You can also manually initiate reception.

  1. Ensure the watch is placed near a window or in an open area where it can receive radio signals.
  2. To manually receive, pull out the crown to the second click.
  3. Press and hold the lower right button (B) for approximately 2 seconds until the second hand points to 'R' (Receive).
  4. Place the watch in a stable position and avoid moving it during reception. Reception can take 2 to 10 minutes.
  5. After successful reception, the time will be adjusted automatically. If reception fails, the watch will revert to its last successful time setting.

4. Operating the Watch

4.1 Timekeeping Mode

The watch normally operates in Timekeeping Mode, displaying the current time and date for your Home City.

4.2 World Time Mode

The watch can display the current time in a second time zone (World Time City) simultaneously with your Home City time.

  1. To switch the main display between Home City and World Time City, press the upper right button (A).
  2. To change the World Time City, pull out the crown to the first click and rotate it to select a new city code. The small dial will indicate the time in the selected city.
  3. Push the crown back in to confirm.

4.3 Stopwatch Function

The watch includes a stopwatch function for measuring elapsed time.

  1. To enter Stopwatch Mode, pull out the crown to the second click and rotate it until the mode hand points to 'STW'.
  2. Press the upper right button (A) to start/stop the stopwatch.
  3. Press the lower right button (B) to reset the stopwatch.
  4. To exit Stopwatch Mode, push the crown back in.

5. Maintenance and Care

5.1 Water Resistance

Your watch is rated for 10 BAR water resistance. This means it is suitable for daily use, showering, and swimming. However, it is not intended for scuba diving or operating buttons underwater.

  • Do not operate the crown or buttons while the watch is wet or submerged.
  • After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

5.2 Cleaning

Regular cleaning helps maintain the appearance and longevity of your watch.

  • Wipe the watch case and band with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, use a soft brush with mild soap and water, then rinse thoroughly and dry.
  • Avoid using chemical cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the watch's finish.

5.3 Power Management

As a solar-powered watch, regular exposure to light is crucial.

  • Ensure the watch face is exposed to light whenever possible, especially when not in use.
  • Avoid storing the watch in dark places for extended periods, as this can deplete the battery and affect functionality.
  • If the watch enters power-saving mode (hands stop moving), expose it to light to resume normal operation.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Time is Incorrect

  • Check Home City Setting: Ensure your Home City is correctly set. Refer to Section 3.2.
  • Check Signal Reception: Verify if the watch is receiving time calibration signals. Try manual reception (Section 3.3). Ensure the watch is in an area with good signal reception.
  • Power Level: If the watch's power is low, it may not receive signals or operate correctly. Expose the watch to bright light for charging.
  • Magnetic Interference: Strong magnetic fields can affect timekeeping. Move the watch away from magnetic sources (e.g., speakers, magnetic necklaces).

6.2 Hands Do Not Move

  • Power Level: The watch may be in power-saving mode or have a low charge. Expose it to bright light.
  • Crown Position: Ensure the crown is pushed fully in.

6.3 Watch Stops Operating

  • Insufficient Charge: The watch may have run out of power. Place it in bright light for an extended period to charge.
  • If issues persist after troubleshooting, contact CASIO customer support.
