Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your wet/dry vacuum before first use:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all items from the packaging. Ensure all listed components are present.
  2. Attach Casters (if separate): If the casters are not pre-attached, insert them into the designated slots on the base of the drum until they click securely into place.
  3. Install Filter: The standard Qwik Lock filter is designed for dry pickup. To install, slide the filter over the filter cage until it rests against the motor housing. Secure it by twisting the Qwik Lock cap clockwise until it locks. For wet pickup, ensure the appropriate wet application filter (WS24200F) is installed, or remove the dry filter if using a foam sleeve (sold separately).
  4. Attach Hose: Insert the locking end of the 7 ft. Dual-Flex hose into the vacuum's inlet port on the drum. Twist to lock it securely.
  5. Attach Accessories: Connect the extension wands to the hose, then attach the desired nozzle (utility, car, or wet nozzle) to the end of the wands or directly to the hose.

Operating Instructions

Dry Vacuuming

For dry pickup, ensure the standard Qwik Lock filter (or a fine dust/HEPA filter) is properly installed. Connect the hose and desired dry nozzle. Plug the vacuum into a suitable electrical outlet. Turn the power switch to the "ON" position. Guide the nozzle over the dry debris to be collected. The vacuum's powerful suction will collect dust, dirt, and other dry materials into the drum.

Wet Vacuuming

Before wet pickup, remove the dry filter and install a wet application filter (WS24200F) or a foam sleeve (sold separately) if applicable. Ensure the drum is empty. Connect the hose and the wet nozzle. Plug the vacuum into a suitable electrical outlet. Turn the power switch to the "ON" position. Guide the wet nozzle over the liquid to be collected. The vacuum will automatically shut off when the liquid reaches its maximum capacity to prevent overflow. Empty the drum promptly after wet pickup.

Blowing Function

The WS1600VA features an integrated blowing port for added versatility. To use the blowing function, detach the hose from the inlet port and securely insert it into the blowing port located on the motor head. Turn the vacuum on. This function is ideal for clearing debris from garages, driveways, or blowing leaves.

Maintenance

Filter Maintenance

Regular filter maintenance is crucial for optimal performance. The Qwik Lock filter system makes changes quick and easy.

  • Dry Filters: For dry pickup, use the standard filter (included) or specialized filters like WS22200F (Fine Dust Filter) or WS23200F (HEPA Media Cartridge Filter). Clean filters by gently tapping them to dislodge debris or by rinsing with water (allow to dry completely before re-use). Replace filters when suction power decreases significantly or when visibly damaged.
  • Wet Filters: For wet pickup, use the WS24200F Wet Application Filter. After wet use, clean the filter thoroughly and allow it to air dry completely before storing or using for dry applications.

Drum Cleaning and Liquid Disposal

After wet pickup, or when the drum is full of dry debris, it needs to be emptied. Unlatch the motor head and lift it off the drum. Dispose of collected debris or liquids. The large drain at the drum's lowest point facilitates easier liquid disposal. Clean the inside of the drum with a damp cloth if necessary. Ensure the drum is dry before reassembling for dry use.
