2. Setup

Initial Cleaning

  1. Before first use, disassemble all removable parts of the percolator.
  2. Wash all parts (except electrical components, if any) with warm, soapy water.
  3. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry completely.

Assembly and First Use

  1. Ensure the water reservoir is clean. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the indicated maximum level.
  2. Insert the filter basket into the lower chamber.
  3. Add your desired amount of ground coffee to the filter basket. Do not overfill or tamp too firmly for percolator use.
  4. Securely attach the upper chamber to the lower chamber.
  5. Place the percolator onto its heating base or compatible coffee machine.
  6. Perform a test run with water only to prime the system and remove any manufacturing residues. Discard this water.

3. Operating Instructions

Brewing Coffee

  1. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water according to the desired number of cups.
  2. Place the filter basket into the lower chamber.
  3. Add finely ground coffee to the filter basket. For espresso, use a fine grind; for moka, a medium-fine grind is suitable. Do not press the coffee down too hard.
  4. Carefully screw the upper chamber onto the lower chamber, ensuring a tight seal.
  5. Place the assembled percolator onto the heating element of your compatible Magimix machine.
  6. Initiate the brewing cycle according to your machine's specific instructions.
  7. Once brewing is complete, the coffee will collect in the upper chamber.
  8. Carefully remove the percolator from the heat source and serve.

Safety Precautions

  • Always handle the percolator by its handle, as the body will be hot during and after brewing.
  • Do not open the percolator while it is under pressure or still hot.
  • Ensure the safety valve (if present) is clear and unobstructed.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

4. Maintenance

Daily Cleaning

  1. After each use, allow the percolator to cool completely.
  2. Disassemble the percolator and discard used coffee grounds.
  3. Wash all parts with warm, soapy water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  4. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely to prevent water spots and mineral buildup.

Descaling

Depending on water hardness, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up over time. Descale your percolator every 1-3 months using a commercial descaling solution or a mixture of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). Follow the descaling product's instructions or run the vinegar solution through a brewing cycle, then rinse thoroughly by brewing several cycles with plain water.

Filter Care

Regularly inspect the filter basket and gasket for wear or damage. Replace these components if they show signs of deterioration to ensure optimal brewing performance and prevent leaks. Compatible replacement filters are available for models 11008, 11009, 11059, 11078, 11079, 11093, 11094, 11095, 11105, 11106, and 11107.

5. Troubleshooting

  • No Coffee Brewed: Ensure the water reservoir is filled, the percolator is correctly assembled and sealed, and the heating element is functioning. Check for blockages in the filter or spout.
  • Weak Coffee: Use a finer grind of coffee or increase the amount of coffee grounds. Ensure the water-to-coffee ratio is appropriate.
  • Coffee Leaks: Check that the upper and lower chambers are tightly screwed together. Inspect the gasket for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure the percolator is placed correctly on the machine's heating base.
  • Slow Brewing: Descale the percolator if mineral buildup is present. Ensure the coffee grind is not too fine, which can restrict water flow.
  • Coffee Tastes Burnt: Remove the percolator from the heat source immediately after brewing is complete. Do not allow coffee to sit on a hot plate for extended periods.
