3. Setup
3.1. Physical Connection
- Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the designated handset port on the phone base.
- Connect to Network:
- Using Power over Ethernet (PoE): Connect an Ethernet cable from your PoE-enabled network switch or router to the LAN port on the back of the phone. The phone will power on automatically.
- Using Power Adapter: If PoE is not available, connect the Ethernet cable from your network to the LAN port, and then connect the power adapter to the phone's power input and a wall outlet.
- Position the Desk Stand: Attach the desk stand to the back of the phone unit to position it at a comfortable viewing angle.
3.2. Initial Boot-up and Configuration
Upon successful connection, the phone will power on and begin its boot sequence. The display will show boot progress and then attempt to obtain network settings (IP address) via DHCP. Once connected to the network, it will attempt to register with your SIP server.
- Display Status: Observe the display for network and registration status. A successful registration typically shows the line status as "Registered" or similar.
- Accessing Web Interface: For advanced configuration, you can access the phone's web interface by entering its IP address into a web browser on a computer connected to the same network. The IP address can usually be found in the phone's network settings menu.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Making Calls
- Lift Handset: Lift the handset or press the speakerphone button to get a dial tone.
- Dial Number: Enter the desired phone number using the keypad.
- Initiate Call: Press the Call button (often a green phone icon) or wait a few seconds for the call to automatically initiate.
4.2. Receiving Calls
When an incoming call is received, the phone will ring and the display will show caller ID information.
- Answer Call: Lift the handset or press the speakerphone button to answer the call.
- Reject Call: Press the Reject button (often a red phone icon) to decline the call.
4.3. Using Programmable Function Keys
The Snom IP 710 features 5 programmable function keys, typically located on the side of the display. These keys can be configured for various functions such as speed dial, busy lamp field (BLF), call park, or line appearance. Refer to your system administrator for specific configurations.
4.4. Display Navigation
Use the navigation cluster (up, down, left, right arrows, and OK button) to navigate through menus, contacts, and call history on the backlit display.

To maintain the appearance and functionality of your phone:
