1. Introduction
The Marmitek Connect DA21 is a digital to analog audio converter designed to transform digital audio signals from sources such as televisions, game consoles, or media players into analog stereo audio. This allows you to connect modern digital audio devices to older analog audio systems, amplifiers, or headphones. It supports both optical (Toslink/SPDIF) and coaxial digital audio inputs and outputs analog stereo audio via RCA connectors. The integrated Wolfson DAC technology ensures high-quality sound reproduction.

- Connect Power:
Plug the included power adapter into the DC 5V input port on the Connect DA21, then plug the adapter into a wall outlet.
- Select Input:
Use the Input Selector Switch on the device to choose between the Coaxial or Optical input, depending on which port your digital audio source is connected to.
6. Operating
Once all connections are made and power is supplied, the Connect DA21 will automatically begin converting the selected digital audio signal to analog. Ensure your connected analog audio system is powered on and set to the correct input to hear the audio.
- Input Selection: If you have multiple digital sources, use the input selector switch on the Connect DA21 to switch between the optical and coaxial inputs.
- Audio Format: The Connect DA21 supports uncompressed digital stereo audio (PCM). Ensure your source device is configured to output PCM stereo audio. Multichannel audio formats (e.g., Dolby Digital, DTS) are not supported and will not produce sound.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Cable Management: Ensure all cables are connected securely and are not under strain to prevent damage to the ports or cables.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Marmitek Connect DA21, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Sound:
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected and the device is receiving power.
- Verify that the digital audio cable (optical or coaxial) is correctly connected to both the source and the Connect DA21.
- Check that the input selector switch on the Connect DA21 matches the connected digital input.
- Confirm that your source device is outputting PCM stereo audio. Many devices require you to change the audio output settings from Dolby Digital/DTS to PCM/Stereo.
- Ensure your analog audio system (amplifier, speakers) is powered on and set to the correct input.
- Test with different cables if possible.
- Distorted Sound or Noise:
- Check all cable connections for looseness or damage.
- Ensure the digital audio source is outputting a clean signal.
- Verify that the sampling rate of the source is within the supported range of the Connect DA21 (up to 192 kHz).
- Try connecting the power adapter to a different electrical outlet.
- Device Not Powering On:
- Ensure the power adapter is fully plugged into both the device and the wall outlet.
- Test the wall outlet with another device to confirm it is functional.
- If possible, try a different compatible 5V DC power adapter.
