Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Citizen Eco-Drive Analog Grey Dial Men's Watch, Model AT0821-59H. - Crown: Used for setting time and date.
- Pushers (A & B): Used for operating the chronograph function.
- Main Hands: Hour, minute, and second hands for current time.
- Sub-dials: Typically for chronograph minutes, chronograph seconds, and a 24-hour indicator or chronograph hour counter.
- Date Window: Displays the current date.
Setup
1. Initial Charging
Your Eco-Drive watch is powered by light. Before initial use, or if the watch has stopped, expose it to bright light (natural sunlight or fluorescent lamp) for several hours to ensure a full charge. The second hand may move in two-second intervals when power is low, indicating a need for charging.
2. Setting the Time
- Pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
- Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set if your watch has a 24-hour sub-dial that synchronizes with the main time.
- Push the crown back in to the normal position. The second hand will resume movement.
3. Setting the Date
- Pull the crown out to the first click position.
- Rotate the crown to set the date. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
- Push the crown back in to the normal position.
Operating the Chronograph
Your watch features a chronograph function for measuring elapsed time.
- Starting: Press pusher A (top pusher) to start the chronograph. The chronograph second hand will begin to move.
- Stopping: Press pusher A again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time will be indicated by the chronograph hands.
- Resetting: After stopping, press pusher B (bottom pusher) to reset the chronograph hands to their zero positions.
- Split Time (if applicable): Some chronographs allow for split time measurement. Consult the full Citizen module manual for advanced chronograph operations if needed.
Maintenance
1. Charging Guidelines
- To maintain optimal performance, ensure your watch is regularly exposed to light.
- Avoid prolonged storage in dark places, which can lead to power depletion.
- A fully charged Eco-Drive watch can typically run for several months in total darkness.
2. Cleaning
Wipe the watch case and band with a soft, dry cloth. For stainless steel bands, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
3. Water Resistance (50 Meters / 5 ATM)
Your watch is water resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM). This means it is suitable for everyday use, such as hand washing, rain, and splashes. It is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.

Troubleshooting
- Watch Stops or Loses Time: This typically indicates insufficient power. Expose the watch to bright light for an extended period (e.g., 8-10 hours in direct sunlight or 24-48 hours under a fluorescent lamp).
- Date Does Not Change: Ensure the time is set correctly, especially the AM/PM cycle. If the watch has stopped due to low power, the date may also be affected. Recharge the watch and reset the time and date.
- Chronograph Hands Do Not Reset to Zero: If the chronograph hands are not aligned to the 12 o'clock position when reset, they may need calibration. Refer to the detailed Citizen module manual for specific calibration procedures, which usually involve pulling the crown to a specific position and using the pushers to adjust the hands.
