  3. Fill Solution Tank:
    • The Fivestar's solution and recovery tank is designed for easy removal. Lift the tank using its built-in carrying handle.
    • Take the tank to a sink or other water source.
    • For optimal cleaning effectiveness, fill the three-gallon solution tank with warm or hot water.
    • Cleaning chemicals can be added directly to the solution tank for quick spot or entryway cleanup.
    • Once filled, place the tank back onto the Fivestar base and close the self-sealing lid. The machine is now ready for use.

Pre-treatment (Optional)

Before cleaning, you may apply a chemical pre-spray directly to the carpet. For maintenance cleaning, EDIC recommends applying a pre-spray and allowing it to dwell for 5 to 10 minutes before scrubbing and rinsing with the Fivestar. For difficult spots and high-traffic lanes, you might need to agitate the chemical into the carpet fibers using a carpet brush or rake.

Operation

Mode Selection

Before beginning, ensure the mode switch on the lower right side of the Fivestar is set to the correct position for the surface you are cleaning (e.g., Carpet or Floor).

Cleaning Procedure

Clean by pulling the Fivestar backward. It is recommended to overlap passes slightly to ensure full cleaning coverage. The Fivestar is designed to reach into corners and maintain high productivity.

Dry Pass

To remove additional water from the carpet, perform a dry pass. Simply release the Activate button and go over the cleaned area using only the vacuum function.

Maintenance

Emptying the Recovery Tank

When the recovery tank is full and requires emptying:

  1. Turn off the machine.
  2. Remove the recovery tank using its built-in handle.
  3. Take the recovery tank to a toilet or designated disposal area and empty it. The patented bladder design ensures that dirty water does not contaminate the clean water supply.

Accessing Internal Components

Accessing the equipment bay for maintenance is straightforward:

  1. Remove the two caps on the front of the machine to reveal the screws.
  2. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the screw on the left and the screw on the right of the machine.
  3. Once the screws are removed, gently tilt the machine backward from the handle to open the equipment bay.

Inside, you will find a well-organized layout of components, including the 50 PSI solution pump, the upright-mounted two-horsepower vacuum motor with 112 CFM, and the brush motor providing cleaning power at 2500 RPM. All these components feature quick connects for easy service and replacement. The exclusive intercooler system helps keep all electrical components cool, ensuring many years of reliable operation.
