Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified technician.
Mounting
The LEF-3L master station can be mounted on a wall or placed on a desk. Ensure the mounting surface is stable and provides adequate support for the unit's weight (approximately 1.16 pounds).
Wiring
The system requires variable wire types depending on the distance between the master station and the farthest sub-station. Refer to the detailed wiring diagrams provided in the separate installation guide for specific connections. Ensure all connections are secure and follow local electrical codes.
- Power Connection: Connect the appropriate power supply to the master station. The unit consumes 300mA.
- Station Connections: Connect the master station to up to three other stations (LEF master stations or LE door stations) using the designated terminals.
- External Device Control: For controlling external devices like electric strikes or magnetic locks, a relay (RY-PA) is required for each device. Connect the relay to the master station as per the installation guide. The RY-PA can be configured for momentary or maintained closure.
Note: Always disconnect power before performing any wiring or installation procedures.
Operating Instructions
Basic Communication
- Initiating a Call: Press the desired call button (1, 2, or 3) corresponding to the station you wish to communicate with.
- Speaking: Press and hold the TALK button to speak. Release the button to listen. This is a push-to-talk (simplex) communication method.
- Receiving a Call: When another station calls, the corresponding LED indicator will illuminate, and a call-tone will sound. The responding station operates hands-free.
- Adjusting Volume: Use the VOICE VOL. slider to adjust the speaker volume.
Selective Door Release
The master station is equipped with a door release button to activate electric strikes or magnetic locks connected via a relay (RY-PA).
- Ensure the door release mechanism is properly wired through an RY-PA relay.
- During a communication session with the desired door station, press the dedicated door release button on the master station.
- The relay will activate, releasing the door. The activation can be momentary (while button is pressed) or maintained (while station is selected), depending on the RY-PA configuration.
Controlling External Devices
The LEF-3L allows selective control of other external devices (e.g., CCTV cameras, lights) through a relay (RY-PA).
- Connect the external device to the RY-PA relay as per the installation guide.
- Activate the device by selecting the communication channel associated with it. The relay can provide a momentary closure (while the "key" button is pressed) or a maintained closure (while the station is selected).
Maintenance
The Aiphone LEF-3L master station requires minimal maintenance to ensure long-term performance.
- Cleaning: Wipe the unit periodically with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or strong chemicals, as these can damage the ABS plastic housing.
- Inspection: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
- Environment: Ensure the unit is installed in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and excessive dust.
