- Power On: Ensure the shredder is plugged in and the power switch (usually located on the back or side) is in the 'ON' position. The shredder will enter standby mode.
- Shredding Paper: Insert up to 14 sheets of paper into the main paper entry slot. The shredder will automatically start and stop once the paper has cleared the cutting mechanism.

Overload Protection: If too much paper is inserted, the shredder may automatically stop to prevent damage. Remove excess paper and try again. Allow the motor to cool down if it overheats from continuous use.
5. Maintenance
- Emptying the Wastebasket: The clear viewing window allows you to monitor the fill level. When full, slide out the wastebasket and dispose of the shredded material. Ensure the wastebasket is fully re-inserted before operating.
- Shredder Lubrication: To maintain optimal performance and extend the life of your shredder, lubricate the cutting blades regularly. Apply shredder oil to a sheet of paper and feed it through the shredder. Repeat this process after every 30 minutes of continuous shredding or at least once a month with regular use.
- Cleaning: Unplug the shredder before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Royal MC14MX shredder, refer to the following common solutions:
- Shredder Does Not Turn On:
- Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet.
- Check that the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Verify the wastebasket is fully and correctly seated. The shredder has a safety interlock that prevents operation if the basket is not in place. - Paper Jam:
- If the shredder stops with paper in the entry, switch the function to 'Reverse' (if available) to clear the jam. Gently pull the paper out.
- If a reverse function is not available or ineffective, unplug the unit and carefully remove the paper manually. Be cautious of sharp blades.
- Avoid exceeding the 14-sheet capacity to prevent jams. - Shredder Overheats and Stops:
- Continuous shredding can cause the motor to overheat. The shredder has a thermal overload protection feature that will automatically shut it off.
- Allow the shredder to cool down for at least 20-30 minutes before resuming operation. - Unusual Noises:
- A slight clanking noise can sometimes occur, especially with smaller items, and may be normal operation. However, if the noise is excessive or accompanied by performance issues, ensure the blades are lubricated and there are no obstructions.
