  • Verify that the location allows for proper wiring access to the central exchange unit.
  • Confirm compatibility with an Aiphone AX Series master station and central exchange unit (sold separately).

3.2. Wiring

  • The door station requires Cat-5e cable for connection to the central exchange unit.
  • Connect the Cat-5e cable to the RJ45 jack on the door station.
  • The maximum distance from the central exchange unit using Cat-5e cable is 980 ft.

4. Operating Instructions

The AX-DVF door station operates in conjunction with an Aiphone AX Series master station.

  1. Visitor Call: When a visitor presses the call button on the AX-DVF door station, an alert is sent to the connected AX Series master station.
  2. Audio/Video Communication: The master station will receive a live video feed from the AX-DVF's 1/4" color camera and enable two-way audio communication.
  3. Directory Display: The illuminated directory slot on the door station displays the name of the corresponding occupant, assisting visitors.
  4. Access Authorization: From the master station, the occupant can communicate with the visitor and, if desired, remotely authorize access (e.g., unlock a door, if integrated with an access control system).

5. Maintenance

The Aiphone AX-DVF is designed for durability with its stainless steel faceplate and polycarbonate lens cover.

  • Cleaning: To clean the faceplate and camera lens, use a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or lens.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the unit for any signs of damage or loose connections.
  • Environmental Protection: While designed for outdoor use, ensure the unit is not exposed to extreme conditions beyond its operational specifications.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your AX-DVF door station, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Video/Audio:
    • Check all Cat-5e cable connections at both the door station and the central exchange unit.
    • Ensure the central exchange unit is powered on and functioning correctly.
    • Verify that the master station is properly configured and connected.
  • Call Button Not Responding:
    • Inspect the call button for any physical obstruction or damage.
    • Confirm wiring integrity.
  • Poor Video Quality:
    • Clean the camera lens with a soft cloth.
