5. Operating Instructions

Attaching the Bicycle Carrier to the Towbar:

  1. Position Carrier: Carefully lift the bicycle carrier (with the Quick Lock attached) and position it onto the vehicle's towbar. Ensure the carrier is centered and level.
  2. Engage Quick Lock: Firmly press down the lever of the Quick Lock mechanism. Continue applying pressure until the mechanism securely clamps onto the towbar. You should feel a distinct resistance or hear a click, indicating proper engagement.
  3. Verify Security: Attempt to move the carrier. It should be firmly attached to the towbar with no significant play.

Locking the Mechanism:

  1. Once the Quick Lock is engaged on the towbar, insert the provided key into the lock cylinder.
  2. Turn the key to secure the Quick Lock in the locked position.
  3. Remove the key and store it in a safe place. This prevents unauthorized removal of the bicycle carrier.

Detaching the Bicycle Carrier from the Towbar:

  1. Unlock Mechanism: Insert the key into the lock cylinder and turn it to the unlocked position. Remove the key.
  2. Release Quick Lock: Lift the lever of the Quick Lock mechanism to disengage it from the towbar.
  3. Remove Carrier: Carefully lift the bicycle carrier off the towbar.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and reliable performance of your EUFAB 11402 Quick Lock Single, regular maintenance is recommended:

  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the Quick Lock for any signs of wear, damage, cracks, or corrosion. Pay close attention to the clamping mechanism and the lock cylinder.
  • Cleaning: Keep the mechanism clean and free from dirt, mud, and road salt. Use a damp cloth to wipe down surfaces. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the finish.
  • Lubrication: Apply a small amount of suitable lubricant (e.g., silicone spray or light grease) to the moving parts of the clamping mechanism and the lock cylinder once or twice a year, or more frequently if used in harsh conditions.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the bicycle carrier with the Quick Lock attached in a dry, protected environment to prevent exposure to extreme weather conditions.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your EUFAB 11402 Quick Lock Single, consider the following:

  • Difficulty Engaging: If the Quick Lock does not engage properly on the towbar, check for any obstructions on the towbar surface or within the clamping mechanism. Ensure the bicycle carrier is correctly positioned and aligned.
  • Stiff Lever: If the lever is stiff or difficult to operate, apply lubricant to the pivot points and the clamping surfaces.
  • Key Issues: If the key is difficult to turn or remove, apply a small amount of graphite lubricant into the lock cylinder. Do not force the key.
  • Loose Fit: If the carrier feels loose after engaging the Quick Lock, re-check the installation of the Quick Lock onto the bicycle carrier itself. Ensure all fasteners are tight.
  • Persistent Problems: If problems persist after attempting these troubleshooting steps, please contact EUFAB customer support for further assistance.
