Package Contents
Verify that all parts are present before beginning installation. The package should contain the following:
- Interior Knob Assembly
- Interior Deadbolt Assembly
- Monaco Escutcheon
- Mounting Screws
- Installation Template (if applicable)
Note: This product is the interior half only and requires an exterior handleset (e.g., Schlage FA358) to complete the full assembly.
Setup and Installation
Before installation, ensure your door has the correct preparation. A 5 1/2-inch center-to-center door prep is required for this one-piece model. This knob style is non-handed, meaning it can be installed on either left or right-handed doors.
- Prepare the Door: Ensure the door is properly bored with the required 5 1/2-inch center-to-center spacing for the deadbolt and knob.
- Install Exterior Handleset (Sold Separately): If not already installed, mount the exterior handleset (e.g., Schlage FA358) according to its specific instructions.
- Install Deadbolt Latch: Insert the deadbolt latch into the door edge. Secure it with screws.
- Install Knob Latch: Insert the knob latch into the door edge. Secure it with screws.
- Mount Interior Deadbolt: Align the interior deadbolt mechanism with the exterior deadbolt components and secure it using the provided screws.
- Mount Interior Knob and Escutcheon: Position the Monaco escutcheon and interior knob assembly over the door. Align the spindle with the latch mechanism and secure the assembly with the long mounting screws, ensuring a snug fit without overtightening.
- Test Operation: After installation, test the deadbolt and knob functions to ensure smooth operation and proper latching.
Operating Instructions
The Schlage FA359DNB613MON interior knob and deadbolt operate independently.
- To Lock the Deadbolt: From the interior, rotate the thumbturn on the deadbolt assembly clockwise until the bolt extends fully into the door frame.
- To Unlock the Deadbolt: From the interior, rotate the thumbturn on the deadbolt assembly counter-clockwise until the bolt retracts fully.
- To Open the Door (Knob): Rotate the interior knob in either direction and pull or push the door open. The knob does not require a key for interior operation.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and smooth operation of your Schlage door hardware.
- Cleaning: Clean the finish with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or polishing agents, as these can damage the Oil Rubbed Bronze finish.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of graphite-based lubricant to the latch and deadbolt mechanisms to ensure smooth operation. Do not use oil-based lubricants, as they can attract dust and debris.
- Tightening Screws: Check all mounting screws periodically and tighten them if necessary to prevent loosening over time.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Knob/Deadbolt is stiff or hard to turn. | Lack of lubrication, misaligned components, or debris. | Apply graphite lubricant to the mechanism. Check for proper alignment of the latch and deadbolt. Ensure no debris is obstructing movement. |
