2. Setup Guide

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the packing list are present.
  2. Software Installation: Insert the provided software CD (Cyberview CS and Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0) into your computer's CD-ROM drive. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the necessary drivers and scanning software. Ensure your operating system is Windows XP or Vista for compatibility.
  3. Connect the Scanner: Connect the scanner to your computer using the supplied USB 2.0 cable. Plug one end into the scanner's USB port and the other into an available USB port on your computer.

3.2. Scanning Process:

  1. Insert Holder: Gently insert the loaded film or slide holder into the scanner's input slot.
  2. Launch Software: Open the Cyberview CS scanning software on your computer.
  3. Select Scan Type: Within the software, select whether you are scanning negatives or slides.
  4. Preview: Use the preview function in the software to see a real-time view of your film/slide. Adjust framing if necessary.
  5. Adjust Settings: The software allows for various adjustments, including color variations from nine settings. Utilize the image adjustment tool to fine-tune your scan.
  6. Magic Touch: Activate the Magic Touch feature within the software to automatically detect and eliminate dust, scratches, and other flaws.
  7. Initiate Scan: Click the "Scan" button in the software. The scanner will begin processing the image. A typical scan takes approximately 9.5 seconds.
  8. Save Image: Once the scan is complete, save the digital file to your desired location on your hard disk, CD-R, or DVD-R.

3.3. Post-Scan Editing:

Utilize the included Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 software for further editing, printing, and generating slide shows from your digitized images.

4. Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Scanner: Periodically clean the scanner's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners directly on the device.
  • Cleaning Film/Slide Holders: Ensure film and slide holders are free of dust and debris before inserting film. Use a soft brush or compressed air if necessary.
  • Internal Cleaning: If dust or artifacts appear on scans despite using Magic Touch, consult the software's help section or manufacturer's support for instructions on internal sensor cleaning, if applicable. Avoid attempting to clean internal components without proper guidance.
