Setup and Installation
The Intermatic WP3100C is designed for easy installation and can be mounted either vertically or horizontally. Follow these steps for proper setup:
- Prepare the Outlet: Ensure the power to the electrical outlet is turned off at the circuit breaker before beginning installation.
- Remove Knockouts (if needed): The cover features pre-scored knockouts for cord entry. Use pliers or a similar tool to carefully remove the necessary knockouts for your cord configuration.
- Select and Install the Correct Insert: Choose the appropriate insert (GFCI, standard duplex, round, or toggle) that matches your existing electrical receptacle. Snap the chosen insert into the mounting base. The patented insert design ensures a flexible and secure fit.
- Mount the Base: Align the mounting base over your existing electrical receptacle. The pre-adhered neoprene gasket on the back of the base provides a weather-tight seal against the mounting surface. Loosen the existing outlet screws slightly, slide the base over them, and then tighten the screws to secure the base to the wall.
- Attach the Clear Cover: Align the hinges of the clear plastic cover with the corresponding slots on the mounting base. Snap the cover onto the base. The cover can be hinged from the top or either side, depending on your mounting preference (vertical or horizontal).

Operation
Once installed, the Intermatic WP3100C provides continuous protection for your outdoor electrical outlets. To access the outlet or plug in a device:
- Gently unlatch and open the clear plastic cover.
- Plug your electrical cord into the receptacle. Ensure the cord is routed through the appropriate knockout opening.
- Close the clear cover firmly until it latches. The design allows the cover to close shut even when cords are in use, maintaining its weatherproof seal.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and effectiveness of your Intermatic WP3100C Weatherproof Electrical Outlet Cover, perform the following maintenance tasks:
- Regular Cleaning: Periodically wipe down the clear cover and base with a damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the polycarbonate.
- Inspect Gasket: Annually inspect the neoprene gasket for any signs of wear, cracking, or damage. A compromised gasket can reduce the weatherproof integrity of the cover.
- Check for Damage: Examine the cover and base for any physical damage, such as cracks or breaks, especially after severe weather conditions. Replace the unit if significant damage is found.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your weatherproof outlet cover, consider the following:
- Cover Not Closing Securely: Ensure no debris is obstructing the latching mechanism or the cord entry points. Verify that the correct insert is properly seated.
- Moisture Inside Cover: Check the integrity of the neoprene gasket and ensure all mounting screws are tightened appropriately. Confirm that the cover is fully latched when closed.
- Difficulty Plugging in Cords: Ensure the correct knockout has been removed for your cord size and type. The maximum cord size supported is (2) #14 AWG or (1) #12 AWG.
