Setup

Unpacking and Placement

Carefully remove the keyboard from its packaging. Place the keyboard on a stable, flat surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the instrument.

Power Supply

The Casio CTK-720 can be powered using an optional AD-5 AC power adapter. Connect the adapter to the DC 9V input jack on the rear of the keyboard and then plug it into a standard wall outlet.

Ensure the keyboard is turned off before connecting or disconnecting the power adapter.

Connecting Peripherals

The CTK-720 offers various connection options for external devices:

  • Headphones: Connect 3.5mm stereo headphones to the PHONES/OUTPUT jack for private practice.
  • Sustain Pedal: An optional sustain pedal can be connected to the SUSTAIN jack for enhanced expression.
  • USB: The USB port allows connection to a computer for MIDI data transfer.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off and Volume Control

  1. To turn on the keyboard, slide the POWER/MODE switch to the "ON" position.
  2. Adjust the overall volume using the MAIN VOLUME slider. Slide it up to increase volume and down to decrease.
  3. To turn off the keyboard, slide the POWER/MODE switch to the "OFF" position.

Selecting Tones

The CTK-720 features 242 built-in tones, including 113 panel tones, 128 General MIDI tones, and 1 drum set. To select a tone:

  • Press the TONE button.
  • Use the number pad or the + and - buttons to enter the desired tone number. The selected tone will be displayed on the LCD screen.

Using Rhythms

The keyboard includes 100 rhythm patterns to accompany your playing. To select and start a rhythm:

  • Press the RHYTHM button.
  • Use the number pad or the + and - buttons to select a rhythm.
  • Press the START/STOP button to begin or end the rhythm.
  • Adjust the rhythm tempo using the TEMPO buttons.

Lesson Function

The CTK-720 features a 3-Step Lesson system to help you learn songs. Refer to the display for lesson progress and guidance.

  • Press the SONG BANK button to select a song.
  • Use the 3-STEP LESSON buttons (Step 1, Step 2, Step 3) to engage the lesson mode.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe the keyboard's surface with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with water and a mild detergent, then wipe dry immediately. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or polishes, as these can damage the finish.

Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the keyboard in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Cover the keyboard to protect it from dust.

Troubleshooting
