  • For Mounted 35mm Slides: Place the mounted slide into the slide holder, ensuring the image is correctly oriented and the emulsion side faces the scanner's light source.
  • Insert the loaded film or slide holder into the scanner's input slot.

5.2 Scanning Process

  1. Launch the scanning application installed on your computer (e.g., CyberView PF).
  2. Select the appropriate scan mode (e.g., "Negative Film" or "Positive Slide").
  3. Click the "Preview" button to generate a low-resolution preview of your film/slide. This allows you to adjust cropping and other settings.
  4. Adjust scanning parameters as needed:
    • Resolution: Select your desired scanning resolution (up to 6400 dpi). Higher resolutions result in larger file sizes and longer scan times.
    • Color Correction: Utilize features like color balance, brightness, contrast, and saturation to optimize image quality.
    • Dust and Scratch Removal: If available in your software, enable digital ICE or similar features for automatic defect removal.
  5. Click the "Scan" button to begin the high-resolution scan.
  6. Once the scan is complete, you will be prompted to save the image. Choose your desired file format (e.g., JPEG, TIFF) and destination folder.
  7. Remove the film/slide holder from the scanner.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Scanner

Regular cleaning helps maintain optimal scan quality.

  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the scanner with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Film/Slide Path: Dust or debris on the scanner's glass surface can affect scan quality. Use a can of compressed air to gently blow away dust from the film/slide input slot and the internal glass surfaces. Do not touch the glass directly with your fingers.
  • Film/Slide Holders: Clean the film and slide holders with a soft, dry cloth or compressed air to remove any dust or fingerprints.
