This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Hunter 44110 Set & Save 5+2 Programmable Thermostat. Please read these instructions carefully before beginning installation or operation to ensure proper function and to avoid potential damage.
2. Safety Information
- Always turn off power to the heating/cooling system at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel before installing or servicing the thermostat.
- This thermostat is designed for indoor use only.
- Do not short out the terminals on the gas valve or at the system controller to test the thermostat. This can damage the thermostat and void your warranty.
- Ensure all wiring connections are secure and comply with local electrical codes. If you are unsure about any part of the installation, consult a qualified HVAC technician.
- Keep batteries out of reach of children. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
3. Package Contents
Verify that your package contains the following items:
- Hunter 44110 Programmable Thermostat Unit
- Mounting Hardware (screws and wall anchors)
- User Manual (this document)
Note: 2 AA batteries are required for operation and are not included in the package.
4. Installation and Setup
4.1 Mounting the Thermostat
Choose a location for your thermostat that is away from drafts, direct sunlight, and heat sources. It should be mounted on an interior wall, approximately 1.5 meters (5 feet) above the floor.
- Turn off power to your heating/cooling system at the main circuit breaker.
- Remove the old thermostat from the wall.
- Separate the front cover of the Hunter 44110 thermostat from its base.
- Position the thermostat base against the wall and mark the mounting holes.
- Drill pilot holes and insert wall anchors if necessary.
- Secure the thermostat base to the wall using the provided screws.
4.2 Wiring Connections
The Hunter 44110 thermostat is compatible with most 24V heating and cooling systems. Refer to the wiring diagram provided with your specific HVAC system or consult a professional if you are unsure. Connect the wires from your system to the corresponding terminals on the thermostat base.

4.3 Battery Installation
The thermostat requires two (2) AA alkaline batteries for operation. Install them into the battery compartment located on the back of the front cover, observing the correct polarity (+/-).

Once batteries are installed and wiring is complete, reattach the front cover to the base. Turn the power back on at the main circuit breaker.
5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Setting Current Time and Day
Refer to the full instructions at www.hunterfan.com for detailed steps on setting the current time and day. This is typically done by pressing a 'SET' or 'PROGRAM' button and using the Up/Down arrows to adjust values.
5.2 Programming the 5+2 Schedule
The 5+2 programming allows for separate schedules for weekdays (5 days) and weekends (2 days). This feature helps optimize energy usage.
- Access the program mode (consult full instructions for specific button presses).
- Set desired temperatures for up to four periods per day for weekdays.

5.3 Adjusting Temperature
- To view the Set Temperature: Press the Up or Down arrow button for less than 1 second. The display will show the current set temperature.
- To change the Set Temperature: Press and hold the Up or Down arrow button until the display flashes. Then, press the Up or Down arrow button again to adjust the temperature to your desired setting.
5.4 System and Fan Modes
The thermostat features switches for selecting system and fan modes, typically located behind the front cover or on the side.
- System Modes: HEAT, OFF, COOL. Select the appropriate mode for your desired operation.
- Fan Modes: AUTO, ON. In AUTO mode, the fan runs only when the heating or cooling system is active. In ON mode, the fan runs continuously.
5.5 Temporary Overrides
You can temporarily override the programmed schedule by manually adjusting the temperature. The thermostat will maintain this new temperature until the next programmed period begins, or until you cancel the override.

6.1 Battery Replacement
The thermostat will display a battery logo when the batteries are low and need replacement. Replace with two (2) fresh AA alkaline batteries. Ensure correct polarity.
