Setup
Proper setup is crucial for the optimal performance of your DigiTech Whammy Pedal. Follow these steps to connect your pedal to your guitar and amplifier.
- Power Connection: Connect the included 9V DC power supply to the power input jack on the pedal. Ensure the power supply is compatible with the pedal's voltage requirements.
- Instrument Input: Connect your guitar to the "INPUT" jack on the side of the Whammy Pedal using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
- Amplifier Output: Connect the "OUTPUT" jack of the Whammy Pedal to your amplifier's input using another 1/4-inch instrument cable.
- MIDI Connection (Optional): If you plan to control the pedal via MIDI, connect your MIDI controller to the "MIDI IN" port. The "MIDI OUT/THRU" port can be used to pass MIDI data to other devices.

Selecting Effects
Use the large rotary knob on the right side of the pedal to select between the different effect modes: Harmony, Whammy, and Detune. Each mode has multiple sub-settings indicated by LEDs. The active setting's LED will illuminate when selected.
- Harmony Modes: These modes add a harmonized note to your original signal. Examples include Octave Up/Down, 4th, 5th, and various 3rd/7th combinations.
- Whammy Modes: These modes shift your original note up or down by a specified interval as you move the expression pedal. Common settings include 2 Octave Up, 1 Octave Up, 5th Up, 4th Up, 2 Octave Down, Dive Bomb, and Drop Tune.
- Detune Modes: These modes create a subtle chorus-like effect by slightly detuning your signal. Options include Shallow and Deep detune.
Using the Expression Pedal
The expression pedal is integral to the Whammy effect. In Whammy modes, rocking the pedal forward (toe down) or backward (heel down) will sweep the pitch through the selected interval. For Harmony and Detune modes, the expression pedal typically controls the wet/dry mix or the intensity of the effect.

Activating the Pedal
To engage or bypass the effect, press the footswitch located on the lower right side of the pedal. An illuminated LED near the footswitch indicates that the effect is active.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your DigiTech Whammy Pedal, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the pedal's exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
- Storage: Store the pedal in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and excessive moisture.
- Cable Management: Always disconnect cables by pulling on the plug, not the cable itself, to prevent damage to the connectors and internal wiring.
- Power Supply: Only use the specified 9V DC power supply. Using an incorrect power supply can damage the unit and void the warranty.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your DigiTech Whammy Pedal, refer to the following common problems and their solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound or weak signal. | Incorrect cable connections, faulty cables, incorrect power supply, pedal bypassed. |
|
| Pitch shifting is inaccurate or glitchy. | Input signal too low or too high, pedal placed incorrectly in signal chain, dirty expression pedal sensor. |
|
| MIDI control not working. | Incorrect MIDI cable connection, wrong MIDI channel, controller not sending correct CC messages. |
