Setup

Powering the Pedal

The DS-2 pedal requires a 9V power source. You can power it using a 9V battery or an optional 9V DC power adapter (BOSS PSA series recommended). Ensure the power source is correctly connected before use.

Connecting the Pedal

Connect your guitar to the INPUT jack and your amplifier to the OUTPUT jack. For hands-free switching between Turbo modes, connect an optional external footswitch (such as the BOSS FS-5L) to the REMOTE jack.

  • DIST: Controls the amount of distortion.
  • TURBO: This switch selects between Turbo Mode I and Turbo Mode II.

Turbo Modes

  • Turbo Mode I: Produces a warm and mellow distortion with a flat frequency response, ideal for rhythm playing.
  • Turbo Mode II: Provides a biting distortion with a mid-range boost, perfect for cutting through the mix during lead solos.

Remote Jack Functionality

Connecting an external footswitch to the REMOTE jack allows for instant, hands-free switching between Turbo Mode I and Turbo Mode II, enhancing live performance versatility.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The DS-2 requires one 9V battery. To replace the battery, loosen the thumbscrew on the front of the pedal, open the pedal, and carefully replace the battery. Ensure correct polarity.

Cleaning and Storage

Wipe the pedal with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners. Store the pedal in a dry environment away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight when not in use for extended periods.

Troubleshooting

  • No Sound: Check all cable connections (input, output, power). Ensure the power adapter is functioning or the battery is not depleted. Verify that the pedal is engaged (CHECK indicator lit).
  • Unwanted Noise/Hum: Ensure all cables are properly shielded. Try a different power outlet or power supply. Check for interference from other electronic devices.
  • Weak/Distorted Sound: Check battery level. Ensure instrument cables are not faulty. Adjust LEVEL and DIST knobs.
