- Locate the reset knob on the end of the lock mechanism.
- Turn the reset knob 90 degrees clockwise to the position indicated for resetting.
- Set your desired four-digit combination by rotating the number wheels. Align your chosen numbers with the indicator marks.
- Once your new combination is set, turn the reset knob 90 degrees counter-clockwise back to its original position. This locks in your new combination.
- Scramble the dials to secure the lock. Test your new combination to ensure it opens correctly before locking your equipment.

Operating the Lock
Using your Master Lock combination cable lock is straightforward:
- To Unlock: Rotate the number wheels to your personal four-digit combination. Once the correct combination is aligned, the cable end will release from the lock body.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your Master Lock cable lock:
- Keep the combination wheels clean and free from dirt or debris. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning.
- Periodically apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to the moving parts of the combination mechanism to maintain smooth operation.
- Avoid exposing the lock to extreme temperatures or harsh chemicals, which could damage the vinyl coating or internal components.
- Store the lock in a dry place when not in use to prevent rust or corrosion.

Troubleshooting
- Difficulty Rotating Dials: If the combination wheels are stiff, apply a small amount of silicone lubricant and try rotating them again. Ensure no dirt or foreign objects are lodged between the wheels.
- Lock Not Opening with Correct Combination: Double-check that each number is precisely aligned with the indicator marks. If you recently reset the combination, ensure you are using the new combination. If the issue persists, try the original 0-0-0-0 combination as a last resort, in case the reset was not fully completed.
- Forgetting Your Combination: Unfortunately, if you forget your combination and did not record it, there is no master key or backdoor to open the lock. The only solution would be to attempt to cycle through combinations or, if necessary, use a cutting tool. It is highly recommended to store your combination securely in a memorable location or using the Master Lock Vault service.
