  5. Water Source Connection: Place the filter end of the 1/6" main line tubing into your chosen water container. Ensure the filter is submerged and free from debris.
  6. Tubing Installation:
    • Connect one end of the 1/6" main line tubing to the designated inlet on the solar pump.
    • Use T Barb Fittings to create branches from the main line using the 1/8" branch line tubing. Extend these branch lines to each plant you wish to water.
    • Insert a Drip Emitter into the end of each branch line, positioning it near the base of the plant for targeted watering.
    • Install the Anti-Siphon Valve in the main line to prevent water from flowing back into the reservoir due to siphoning effects.
    • Use the Tubing End Plugs to seal any unused ends of the tubing.
  7. App Connection:
    • Download the "RainPoint Home" app from your smartphone's app store.
    • Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Mini Hub Gen 2 to your home Wi-Fi network.
    • Once the hub is connected, follow the app's prompts to add your WiFi Solar Pump Gen 2 to the system.

  4. Manual Watering: Initiate watering instantly at any time through the app, overriding the set schedule if needed.
  5. Monitoring: The app provides real-time activity logs, current water levels (if applicable), and battery status, keeping you informed about your system's performance.
  6. Rain Delay: Utilize the rain delay feature to pause watering cycles for 1-3 days, preventing overwatering during rainy periods.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your watering system.

  • Filter Cleaning: Periodically remove and clean the water filter to prevent sediment buildup and ensure unobstructed water intake.
  • Tubing and Emitter Inspection: Regularly check all tubing and drip emitters for any signs of clogging, kinks, or damage. Clean emitters if necessary or replace damaged tubing sections.
  • Solar Panel Cleaning: Keep the solar panel clean from dust, dirt, and debris to maximize its charging efficiency. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning.
  • Battery Monitoring: Monitor the battery level through the RainPoint Home app. If solar charging is insufficient due to prolonged cloudy weather or indoor placement, manually charge the battery via the USB-C port.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your RainPoint watering system, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Water Flow:
    • Check the water level in your reservoir.
    • Ensure the filter is clean and not blocked by debris.
    • Verify all tubing connections are secure and check for any kinks or clogs in the lines.
    • Confirm the pump unit is powered on and has sufficient battery charge.
  • Uneven Watering:
    • Inspect individual drip emitters for blockages and clean them if necessary.
    • Ensure the anti-siphon valve is correctly installed and functioning.
    • Check for sufficient head pressure; the system recommends 16.4 ft (3m) for optimal performance.
    • Diagram illustrating even water distribution with the RainPoint system compared to uneven distribution with other systems. A graph shows stable water flow rate for RainPoint emitters versus fluctuating rates for other systems.

Figure 4: Comparison of water distribution stability.

  • App Connectivity Issues:
    • Verify that the Mini Hub Gen 2 is powered on and connected to your Wi-Fi network.
    • Ensure the WiFi Solar Pump Gen 2 is within the connection range of the hub.
    • Try restarting both the app and the devices.
    • Check your home Wi-Fi signal strength in the area of the hub and pump.
  • Low Battery Alerts:
    • Confirm the solar panel is exposed to adequate direct sunlight.
    • Manually charge the battery using a USB-C cable if solar charging is insufficient.
