4. Product Overview

4.1 Front & Side Panel

4.2 Rear Panel Connections

4.3 Remote Control

The included 2-in-1 universal remote control can operate both the receiver and your TV, reducing the need for multiple remotes. It features standard controls for channel navigation, volume, menu access, EPG, PVR, and media playback.

5. Setup Instructions

5.1 Initial Connections

Before powering on the device, ensure all necessary connections are made.

  • Antenna Connection: Connect your indoor DVB-T/T2 antenna to the 'ANT IN' port on the rear panel. A strong signal is crucial for proper operation.
  • TV Connection:
    • For HD TVs: Connect the receiver to your TV using the HDMI cable via the 'HD OUT' port.
    • For older TVs: Connect the receiver to your TV using a SCART cable via the 'TV SCART' port.
  • Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the 'AC' port on the receiver and then plug it into a wall outlet.
  • Optional Network Connection:
    • WiFi: Insert the USB WiFi antenna into the USB port on the front panel.
    • Ethernet: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the 'LAN' port on the rear panel.

5.2 First Time Setup

After making all connections, turn on your TV and select the correct input source (HDMI or SCART). Then, power on the receiver. The device will guide you through the initial setup process, which typically includes:

  1. Language Selection: Choose your preferred language for the menu.
  2. Country Selection: Select your country to ensure correct channel scanning parameters.
  3. Channel Scan: The receiver will automatically scan for available DVB-T2/C channels. This process may take several minutes. Ensure your antenna is properly positioned for optimal signal reception.
  4. Network Setup (Optional): If using WiFi, navigate to the network settings menu to connect to your wireless network. If using Ethernet, the connection should be automatic.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic TV Functions

  • Channel Navigation: Use the CH+/CH- buttons on the remote or front panel to change channels.
  • Volume Control: Use the VOL+/VOL- buttons on the remote.
  • Menu Access: Press the 'MENU' button to access system settings, channel management, and other features.
  • EPG (Electronic Program Guide): Press the 'EPG' button to view the 7-day program guide, allowing you to see upcoming shows and set reminders.
  • Favorite Channels: Create and manage a list of your favorite channels for quick access.
  • Parental Control: Set up parental locks to restrict access to certain channels or programs.
  • Teletext: Access teletext services if available on the broadcast channel.

6.2 Multimedia Playback (USB 2.0)

Insert a USB storage device (e.g., USB flash drive) into the USB 2.0 port on the front panel. The receiver supports various multimedia formats:

  • Audio: MP3, AC3, AAC
  • Images: JPEG, PNG
  • Video: MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, MPG, MPEG

Navigate to the 'Multimedia' section in the main menu to browse and play your files.

6.3 PVR (Personal Video Recorder) & Timeshift

With a connected USB storage device, you can record live TV programs and use the Timeshift function.

  • PVR Ready: Press the 'REC' button on the remote to start recording the current program. You can also schedule recordings via the EPG.
  • Timeshift: Press the 'Timeshift' button to pause live TV. You can then fast-forward or rewind within the buffered content.

6.4 Internet Applications (WiFi/Ethernet)

If connected to the internet via USB WiFi or Ethernet, you can access supported applications:

  • YouTube: Watch videos from YouTube.
  • IPTV: Access IPTV services (requires a valid IPTV subscription, not provided by this device).
  • Weather: Check local weather forecasts.

Navigate to the 'Network' or 'Applications' section in the main menu to access these features.

7. Remote Control Pairing

The 2-in-1 universal remote control can be programmed to control basic functions of your TV. Follow these steps to pair your TV control:

  1. Press and hold the 'SET' button on the remote until the red LED light stays on.
  2. Point your TV's original remote control directly at the UBISHENG remote control, with the IR emitters facing each other, about 1-3 cm apart.
  3. On the UBISHENG remote, press the button you wish to program (e.g., TV/AV, VOL+, VOL-). The red LED will flash slowly.
  4. On your TV's original remote, press and hold the corresponding button (e.g., TV/AV, VOL+, VOL-).
  5. Once the UBISHENG remote's red LED flashes quickly three times and then stays on, the learning process for that button is complete.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 for any other buttons you wish to program.
  7. Press the 'SET' button again to exit programming mode. The red LED will turn off.

9. Troubleshooting

  • No Signal / Black Screen:
    • Ensure the indoor antenna is securely connected to the 'ANT IN' port.
    • Verify your TV is set to the correct input source (HDMI or SCART).
    • Perform a channel scan from the menu.
    • Check antenna positioning and signal strength.
  • No Internet Connection (WiFi/Ethernet):
    • For WiFi: Ensure the USB WiFi antenna is inserted and correctly configured in the network settings. Check your WiFi password.
    • For Ethernet: Ensure the LAN cable is securely connected to both the receiver and your router.
    • Confirm your internet router is working correctly.
  • Remote Control Not Working:
    • Check if the batteries are inserted correctly and are not depleted.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the receiver's IR sensor.
    • If TV control functions are not working, re-attempt the remote control pairing process (Section 7).
  • DVB-C Not Working:
    • Confirm that DVB-C services are available and supported in your specific region.
    • Ensure the cable connection is secure.

10. User Tips

  • Antenna Placement: Experiment with different antenna positions to find the best signal reception, especially if you experience pixelation or channel loss.
  • USB Drive Formatting: For PVR and multimedia playback, ensure your USB drive is formatted to a compatible file system (e.g., FAT32 or NTFS).
  • Language Support: The device menu supports multiple languages. If you need Arabic language support, check the device's language settings in the menu.
