5. Setup and Installation
5.1 Battery Installation
- Main Unit: Open the battery compartment on the back of the main unit. Insert 3 x AAA 1.5V Alkaline or Lithium batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment.
- Remote Sensors: Open the battery compartment on each remote sensor. Insert 2 x AA 1.5V Alkaline or Lithium batteries into each sensor, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment.
Alternatively, the main unit can be powered via the included USB cable by connecting it to a 5V DC power source.

5.2 Sensor Pairing
The remote sensors should automatically pair with the main unit once batteries are installed in both devices and they are within range. The sensor readings (SENSOR 1 and SENSOR 2) will appear on the main unit's display.
5.3 Placement Options
The main unit offers multiple placement options:
- Stand: Use the integrated kickstand on the back to place it on a countertop or table.
- Hang: Utilize the sounding hole or hang hole on the back to mount it on a wall or hook.
- Magnet: The main unit has a magnet on its back, allowing it to be attached to metallic surfaces like a refrigerator door.
Place the remote sensors inside your refrigerator, freezer, or any other area where you wish to monitor temperature. Ensure they are within the transmission range of the main unit.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Power On/Off
The device powers on automatically once batteries are inserted. There is no explicit power on/off button. To turn off, remove the batteries.
6.2 Switching Temperature Units (β/β)
Locate the β/β button on the main unit. Press this button to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature displays.
6.3 Viewing and Clearing MAX/MIN Records
The display shows the current, maximum (MAX), and minimum (MIN) temperatures for indoor and each sensor. The device records 24-hour or all-time MAX/MIN values. Refer to the specific buttons on your device (usually labeled 'MAX/MIN' or similar) to cycle through these records or to clear them. Clearing records typically involves pressing and holding the MAX/MIN button for a few seconds.
6.4 Backlight Operation
- Battery Power: When powered by batteries, the backlight will automatically turn off after 10 seconds to conserve power.
- USB Power: When powered via USB, the backlight can be adjusted to 2 levels (high-low) or turned off. Use the dedicated backlight button (often combined with β/β or a separate 'LIGHT' button) to cycle through these settings.
7. Temperature Alarm Settings
The thermometer supports setting upper and lower temperature limits for the remote sensors. If the temperature exceeds these limits, an alarm will sound.
7.1 Setting Alarm Limits
Specific instructions for setting alarm limits are typically found on the device itself or through a dedicated 'ALARM' button. Generally, you would:
- Press the 'ALARM' button to enter alarm setting mode.
- Use '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the upper and lower temperature limits for Sensor 1 and Sensor 2.
- Press 'ALARM' again to confirm settings and exit the mode.
7.2 Delay Alarm Function
To prevent unnecessary alerts, the device features a smart delay alarm. An alarm will only trigger 1 minute after the temperature continuously exceeds the set range. This is particularly useful when opening a refrigerator door, as it allows for temporary temperature fluctuations without immediate alarms.

8. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the main unit and sensors with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the main unit in water.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both the main unit and sensors when the low battery indicator appears on the display to ensure continuous and accurate readings.
- Storage: If storing the device for an extended period, remove all batteries to prevent leakage.
9. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No temperature reading on main unit | Batteries are dead or incorrectly installed. | Check battery polarity and replace with fresh batteries. Ensure USB power is connected if using. |
| Sensor reading is '---' or inaccurate | Sensor is out of range or has low battery. Interference from other electronic devices. | Move sensor closer to the main unit. Replace sensor batteries. Relocate the main unit or sensor away from potential interference sources. |
| Alarm sounds frequently without significant temperature change | Alarm limits are set too close to the normal operating temperature. | Adjust the upper and lower alarm limits to a wider range. Remember the 1-minute delay feature. |
| Backlight not working | Main unit is on battery power (auto-off after 10s) or USB power backlight is set to 'off'. | If on battery, press any button to activate. If on USB, press the backlight button to cycle through brightness levels. |
10. User Tips
- Optimal Sensor Placement: For best results, place the remote sensors in the warmest part of your refrigerator or freezer to detect potential issues early. Avoid placing them directly in front of vents or near cooling elements.
- Range Considerations: While the device boasts a 100M/328ft range in open areas, walls, appliances, and other obstructions can significantly reduce this. Test sensor placement to ensure reliable connection.
- Battery Type: Using high-quality alkaline or lithium batteries is recommended for longer life and better performance, especially in cold environments for the remote sensors.
11. Warranty and Support
This product comes with a standard manufacturer's warranty. For detailed warranty information, technical support, or service inquiries, please refer to the contact information provided by your retailer or visit the official ORIA website.
