4. Setup Guide

4.1 Unfolding the Scooter

  1. Place the scooter on a flat surface.
  2. Locate the folding mechanism near the base of the handlebar stem.
  3. Release the latch or lever to unlock the stem.
  4. Carefully lift the handlebar stem upwards until it clicks securely into place. Ensure all locking mechanisms are engaged.
  5. Adjust the handlebar height to a comfortable level for the rider using the adjustment knob/clamp on the stem.

4.2 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the scooter's battery. The charging time is approximately 2-3 hours.

  1. Locate the charging port on the scooter (refer to Figure 4.1).
  2. Connect the charger to the charging port and then plug it into a power outlet.
  3. The indicator light on the charger will typically show red during charging and turn green when fully charged.
  4. Once fully charged, disconnect the charger from the scooter and the power outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Controls Overview

LED Digital Display and controls including speed, battery, brake, throttle, and power switch.

  • Power Button: Located on the LED display. Press to turn on/off.
  • Accelerator: Thumb lever on the right handlebar. Press to accelerate.
  • Electric Brake: Lever on the left handlebar. Pull to engage the electronic brake.
  • LED Display: Shows current speed, speed mode (E, D, S), and battery level.

5.2 Power On and Non-Zero Start

  1. Press the Power button on the LED display to turn on the scooter.
  2. The scooter is equipped with a non-zero start function for safety. To activate the motor, place one foot on the scooter deck and use the other foot to push off and slide the scooter to a speed of at least 3 km/h (3 MPH).
  3. Once the scooter is moving at 3 km/h or more, place your other foot on the deck and press the Accelerator button to engage the motor and maintain speed.

To toggle between Zero Start and Non-Zero Start: After switching on the scooter, quickly press the Power button five times in a row.

5.3 Speed Modes

The scooter offers three speed modes, indicated on the LED display:

  • E (Economical): Max Speed 5 KM/H
  • D (Drive): Max Speed 10 KM/H
  • S (Sport): Max Speed 15 KM/H

To switch between speed modes, press the Power button once while the scooter is on. Cycle through the modes to select your desired speed.

5.4 Braking

The RCB R12 is equipped with a dual braking system for enhanced safety:

  • Electronic Brake: Pull the brake lever on the left handlebar to engage the electronic brake.
  • Rear Fender Brake: Press down on the rear fender with your foot to engage the mechanical foot brake.

For optimal stopping power, use both brakes simultaneously when necessary.

5.5 Folding the Scooter

To fold the scooter for storage or transport, reverse the unfolding steps:

  1. Ensure the scooter is powered off.
  2. Adjust the handlebar to its lowest position.
  3. Locate and release the locking mechanism for the handlebar stem.
  4. Carefully fold the handlebar stem downwards until it locks into its folded position.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your RCB R12 Electric Scooter.

6.1 Battery Care

  • Always use the original charger provided with the scooter.
  • Do not overcharge the battery. Disconnect the charger once the battery is full.
  • If storing the scooter for an extended period, ensure the battery is charged to about 50-70% and recharge it every 2-3 months to prevent deep discharge.
  • Store the scooter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6.2 Tire Inspection

  • Although the scooter uses solid rubber tires, regularly inspect them for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage.
  • Ensure the tires are clean and free from debris that could affect grip.

6.3 Cleaning

  • Wipe the scooter clean with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Avoid spraying water directly onto electrical components.

  • Periodically check all screws and fasteners to ensure they are tight.
  • Inspect the braking system for proper function. Ensure the brake levers and fender brake respond correctly.
  • Verify that the folding mechanism operates smoothly and locks securely.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your RCB R12 Electric Scooter, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Scooter does not turn on:
    • Check if the battery is charged. Recharge if necessary.
    • Ensure the power button is pressed firmly.
  • Scooter does not accelerate after pushing off:
    • Confirm the non-zero start function is active (default setting). You must reach at least 3 km/h before pressing the accelerator.
    • If you prefer zero-start, quickly press the power button five times after turning on the scooter to toggle the setting.
    • Check the battery level on the LED display.
  • Scooter is not reaching maximum speed:
    • Verify that the scooter is in 'S' (Sport) mode for maximum speed.
    • Ensure the battery is fully charged. Performance may decrease with low battery.
    • Check the rider's weight; the maximum load is 50 kg.
  • Brakes are not effective:
    • Inspect both the electronic brake lever and the rear fender brake for any obstructions or damage.
    • Ensure the brake lever is fully engaged when pulled.
  • What weight does the scooter support?
    • The scooter supports a maximum load of 50 kg (110 lbs).
  • Does the scooter have turn signals (arrows)?
    • No, this model does not feature integrated turn signals. Riders should use hand signals to indicate turns.
