5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Cable Length Test
This function measures the length of network cables (CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6) up to 200 meters.
- Ensure the cable to be tested is disconnected from all network devices.
- Connect one end of the cable to the RJ45 SCAN port on the Transmitter.
- Select the 'Length' mode on the Transmitter using the navigation buttons.
- Press 'Enter' to start the measurement. The length will be displayed on the LCD.
5.2 Cable Mapping (QC Testing)
This test checks for open circuits, short circuits, cross-overs, and split pairs in RJ45 cables.
- Connect one end of the RJ45 cable to the RJ45 SCAN port on the Transmitter.
- Connect the other end of the RJ45 cable to the RJ45 CONT port on the Receiver.
- Select the 'QC' or 'CONT' mode on the Transmitter.
- Press 'Enter'. The LCD will display the wire map, indicating any faults.
5.3 PoE Testing
Detects Power over Ethernet (PoE) presence, standard (IEEE 802.3af/at), and voltage.
- Connect the RJ45 cable from the PoE source (e.g., PoE switch) to the RJ45 SCAN port on the Transmitter.
- Select the 'PoE' mode on the Transmitter.
- Press 'Enter'. The LCD will display PoE information, including Endspan/Midspan and voltage.
5.4 Port Flashing
Helps identify a specific port on a network switch or router by making its indicator light flash.
- Connect one end of the RJ45 cable to the RJ45 SCAN port on the Transmitter.
- Connect the other end of the cable to a port on the network switch.
- Select the 'Flash' mode on the Transmitter.
- Press 'Enter'. The corresponding port light on the switch will flash, allowing for easy identification.
5.5 Cable Tracing (Hunting)
Locate and identify network cables in bundles or behind walls using the Transmitter and Receiver.
- Connect the RJ45 cable to be traced to the RJ45 SCAN port on the Transmitter.
- Power on the Receiver by rotating the sensitivity knob.
- Select either 'Digital Mode' or 'Analog Mode' on the Receiver using the SCAN button. Digital mode offers anti-interference capabilities.
- Slowly move the Receiver's probe along the suspected cable path. The signal strength indicator on the Receiver will light up, and an audible tone will be emitted (use earphones for clearer detection).
- To pinpoint the exact cable, slowly turn the sensitivity knob counterclockwise to reduce sensitivity as you get closer to the target cable.
5.6 Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Detection
The Receiver can detect live AC voltage without direct contact.
- Press the 'NCV' button on the Receiver.
- Bring the probe tip near an AC voltage source (e.g., power outlet, live wire).
- If AC voltage is detected, the NCV indicator will light up and an audible alarm will sound.
5.7 LED Lamp
The Receiver includes an LED lamp for working in dimly lit environments.
- Press the 'Lamp' button on the Receiver to turn the LED light on or off.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided carrying pouch for protection.
- Battery Care: To prolong battery life, charge the units regularly, even if not in frequent use. Avoid fully discharging the batteries for extended periods.
- Calibration: The device is factory calibrated. No user calibration is required.
7. Troubleshooting
- Device not powering on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a USB power source and try again.
- Inaccurate cable length measurement: Ensure the cable is completely disconnected from all network devices. Check for any damage to the cable or connectors.
- No signal detected during tracing:
- Increase the Receiver's sensitivity.
- Ensure the Transmitter is powered on and in the correct SCAN mode.
- Check the cable connection to the Transmitter.
- Try switching between Analog and Digital SCAN modes.
- Interference during tracing: Switch to 'Digital Mode' on the Receiver for anti-interference capabilities. Reduce Receiver sensitivity to narrow down the signal source.
- LCD display is blank or flickering: Recharge the Transmitter's battery. If the issue persists, contact support.

9. User Tips
- Battery Life: For optimal performance and accurate length measurements, ensure both the Transmitter and Receiver units are fully charged before use.
- Safety First: Always utilize the NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) function to quickly check for live AC voltage in cables or outlets before handling, especially in unknown environments.
- Tracing in Crowded Areas: When tracing cables in congested wiring closets or bundles, start with higher sensitivity on the Receiver and gradually decrease it as you get closer to the suspected cable. This helps to isolate the target cable and minimize interference from adjacent wires.
- Earphone Use: For clearer audio feedback during cable tracing, especially in noisy environments, connect the provided earphones to the Receiver.
