Setup and Installation

Installation of this car stereo requires technical knowledge and experience. It is highly recommended to have the unit installed by a qualified professional to avoid damage to the product or your vehicle's electrical system.

General Installation Steps (Professional Installation Recommended):

  1. Preparation: Disconnect the vehicle's battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  2. Remove Old Unit: Carefully remove the existing car stereo or blank panel from the dashboard.
  3. Mounting: Use the provided mounting brackets and bolts to secure the new GEARELEC unit into the double DIN slot.
  4. Wiring:
    • Connect the 16-Pin Power Harness to the vehicle's wiring harness (power, ground, accessory, speaker wires). Ensure correct polarity.
    • Connect the RCA Cable for audio output (e.g., to an amplifier or subwoofer).
    • Connect the Reversing Video Input Cable if installing a rear view camera (camera not included).
    • Connect the GPS Antenna and position it in a location with a clear view of the sky (e.g., on the dashboard).
    • Connect the 6-Pin USB Cable for rear USB functionality.
  5. Testing: Reconnect the battery and perform initial power-on tests before fully reassembling the dashboard.
  6. Reassembly: Securely reassemble the dashboard components.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Operation

The unit features physical buttons on the left side for volume control (VOL+/VOL-), mode selection (O/M), and a reset button. The touchscreen interface provides access to all other functions.

2. Radio (FM/RDS)

Access the "Radio" application from the main menu. You can scan for stations, save presets, and utilize the RDS function for real-time traffic and station information where available.

3. Bluetooth Function

Go to the "BT Call" or "Bluetooth" application. Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device and search for the car stereo. Pair the devices using the provided PIN (usually 0000 or 1234). Once connected, you can make/receive calls and stream audio.

4. CarPlay & Android Auto

The unit supports both wired and wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. Connect your iPhone via USB for wired CarPlay, or wirelessly via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. For Android Auto, connect your Android phone via USB or wirelessly (if supported by your phone and the unit). Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup.

5. GPS Navigation

The unit supports various video formats (MPEG/AVI/RM/FLV/ASF/WMV/MP4/MKV/OGM/TS/DivX/RMVB/VOB). Play videos from USB storage or other connected sources for a high-definition visual experience.

8. Steering Wheel Control Learning

To use your vehicle's steering wheel buttons to control the stereo, navigate to the "Steering Wheel Control" settings. Follow the on-screen instructions to map each button's function (e.g., Volume Up, Volume Down, Mode, Home, Mute, Power, Band, FM, AM, Scan Up, Scan Down, Frequency).

9. Rear View Camera Input

If a reversing camera is connected (not included), the display will automatically switch to the camera view when the vehicle is put into reverse. This provides a full-screen reversing image for easier parking.

10. WiFi Internet

Connect the unit to a WiFi hotspot (e.g., from your smartphone) to access online features, browse the internet, and download applications from the app store.

11. Split Screen Mode

To use two applications simultaneously, activate split-screen mode. This allows you to view navigation on one side and media playback on the other, for example.

12. UI Themes and Colorful Lights

Customize the look of your stereo by selecting from 49 available UI desktop themes. You can also change the color of the physical buttons on the unit, choosing from 7 different colors or a cycling mode.

13. Multi-band EQ Mode

Adjust the audio output to your preference using the multi-band equalizer. Select from various sound field modes like Rock, Pop, Live, Dance, Classical, Soft, Jazz, or customize the bass, midrange, and treble settings for transparent stereo sound.

14. Video Output
