Figure 3: Grill in Operation
4.1 Lighting the Charcoal
- Open the grill lid and ensure the ventilation openings on both sides are open.
- Place charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal onto the charcoal grate.
- Use a charcoal chimney starter or appropriate firelighters to ignite the charcoal. Never use flammable liquids like gasoline.
- Allow the charcoal to burn until it is covered with a light gray ash (approximately 15-20 minutes).
4.2 Temperature Control
- Adjustable Charcoal Grid: Use the crank handle on the side of the grill to raise or lower the charcoal grate. Raising the grate increases heat intensity, while lowering it reduces heat.
- Ventilation Openings: Adjust the side ventilation openings to control airflow. More airflow increases charcoal temperature, less airflow reduces it.
- Hood Thermometer: Monitor the internal temperature of the grill using the thermometer built into the lid. This helps maintain consistent cooking temperatures.
4.3 Grilling
- Once the charcoal is ready, place your food on the main cooking grates.
- Close the lid for indirect cooking or to retain heat and smoke.
- Use the foldable side table for food preparation or holding utensils. The four hooks are convenient for hanging grill gloves or tongs.
- The integrated bottle opener provides added convenience during use.

5. Maintenance and Care
5.1 Cleaning
- Allow the grill to cool completely before cleaning.
- Cooking Grates: Scrape off any food residue with a grill brush. For stubborn grime, wash with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Charcoal Grate & Ash Pan: Remove cooled ash from the ash pan and charcoal grate. Dispose of ash safely.
- Exterior: Wipe down the exterior surfaces with a damp cloth. For steel components, use a mild cleaner if necessary and dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
5.2 Storage
- Store the grill in a dry, sheltered area when not in use to protect it from weather elements.
- Consider using a grill cover to protect it from dust and moisture, especially if stored outdoors.
- Ensure the foldable side table is folded down for compact storage.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Charcoal not lighting or staying lit | Insufficient airflow; damp charcoal; improper lighting method. | Ensure ventilation openings are fully open. Use dry charcoal. Use a charcoal chimney starter. |
| Uneven heat distribution | Charcoal not spread evenly; wind affecting one side. | Distribute charcoal evenly. Position grill to minimize wind impact. Adjust charcoal grate height. |
| Food sticking to grates | Grates not properly cleaned or oiled. | Clean grates thoroughly before use. Lightly oil grates before placing food. |
