5.2 Measurement Functions
AC Voltage Measurement
Switch the multimeter to the AC voltage gear. The device will automatically recognize and measure AC voltage. For household AC voltage, it measures up to approximately 220V.
DC Voltage Measurement
Switch the multimeter to the DC voltage gear. The device automatically recognizes and measures DC voltage. For example, it can measure the voltage of a regulator with a watch pen up to about 30V.
AC Current Measurement
Switch to AC current gear. Connect the multimeter in series with the circuit to measure AC current. Ensure the red probe is plugged into the current jack.
DC Current Measurement
Switch to DC current gear. Connect the multimeter in series with the circuit to measure DC current. Ensure the red probe is plugged into the current jack.
Resistance Measurement
The multimeter automatically recognizes resistance. Contact both sides of the resistance with the test leads.
Capacitance Measurement
Switch to capacitance gear. Important: Fully discharge capacitors before measurement. Short-circuit the capacitor terminals with a screwdriver before connecting the test leads.
Diode Test
Switch to diode gear. Contact the positive and negative electrodes of the diode with the test leads. The meter displays the approximate forward voltage drop. If the polarity is reversed, the meter will display "OL."
Frequency (Hz) Measurement
Switch to the frequency gear. Measure the frequency value as shown in the video.
Temperature Measurement
Switch to temperature gear. Connect the temperature line (thermocouple) to the multimeter and contact the object to be measured. The display will show the temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit.
NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Induction
Switch to NCV gear. Use the NCV sensor to detect AC voltage. The closer the sensor is to the power supply, the more rapid the alarm and the flashlight flashes red.
Zero Fire Line Recognition
Switch to Live zero-fire wire gear. Plug the red test lead into the hole to identify the firewire (flashlight flashes red, quick alarm sound). For the zero line, there is no red flashing and no alarm sound.

▲ Warning
When replacing the test leads, ensure that the new leads are of the same type or equivalent specifications. The test leads must be in good condition, rated for 1000V 10A. If the insulation of the test leads is damaged, or if the wire is exposed, they must be replaced immediately to ensure safety and accurate measurements.
8. Troubleshooting
- Abnormal Performance: If the meter exhibits any abnormal or faulty performance, discontinue use immediately.
- "OL" Display (Current Measurement): If the display shows "OL" during current measurement, it indicates that the input current exceeds the 10A range.
- "OL" Display (Diode Test): During a diode test, if the polarity of the test leads is reversed, the meter will display "OL." This is normal behavior.
- Unstable Capacitance Readings: When measuring large capacitance, stable readings may take some time. Allow the meter to settle for an accurate measurement.
- Low Battery Indication: If the battery voltage is low, a low battery indication will appear. Recharge the multimeter promptly using the provided USB cable.
9. User Tips
- Auto-Range Functionality: The ANENG 683 features an auto-range function, simplifying measurements by automatically selecting the appropriate range. Ensure 'AUTO' is displayed on the screen for this mode.
- Capacitor Discharge: Always ensure capacitors are fully discharged before measuring capacitance to prevent damage to both the component and the multimeter.
- Current Measurement Connection: When measuring current, always connect the multimeter in series with the circuit. Connecting it in parallel can damage the instrument.
- True RMS for AC: The multimeter supports True RMS for AC voltage and current measurements, providing more accurate readings for non-sinusoidal waveforms.
- Probe Care: The high-quality silicone wires of the test leads are resistant to low temperatures and freezing, and are designed for high temperature resistance without damage. This ensures durability and reliability in various conditions.
