Maintenance
Cleaning
- Wipe the timer's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Periodically check the inlet filter for debris and clean if necessary to ensure proper water flow.
Battery Replacement
- When the low battery indicator appears on the LCD screen, replace the batteries promptly.
- Follow the battery installation steps in the 'Setup Instructions' section.
Winter Storage
- Before freezing temperatures, disconnect the timer from the faucet and hoses.
- Remove the batteries.
- Store the timer in a dry, frost-free location.
Troubleshooting
- Timer not turning on or display is blank:
- Check if batteries are inserted correctly and are fresh. Replace with new alkaline batteries if needed.
- Water is not flowing or flow is weak:
- Ensure the faucet is fully open. Check the inlet filter for clogs and clean if necessary. Verify that the working water pressure is within the specified range (0.05-0.8MPA).
- Timer is leaking from connections:
- Ensure all connections to the faucet and hoses are hand-tight. Check that the O-ring is properly seated and not damaged. Replace O-rings if they appear worn.
- Timer is leaking from drain holes underneath:
- Small drain holes are often designed to release condensation or minor internal leaks to protect electronics. If the leakage is excessive, ensure all connections are tight and the unit is not damaged. If the issue persists, it may indicate an internal seal failure.
- Watering schedule not activating:
- Verify that the current time is set correctly. Check that the start time, duration, and frequency are programmed for the desired zone. Ensure the timer is not in 'OFF' mode or an active 'Rain Delay' period.
- Can the timer be left outdoors in the rain?
- Yes, the timer has an IPX5 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. It is designed for outdoor use and can withstand rain.
User Tips
- Check Faucet Threads: Always confirm your faucet thread standards (UN or BS) before purchasing to ensure compatibility and prevent leaks.
- Fresh Batteries are Key: Use new, high-quality alkaline batteries for reliable operation and to avoid unexpected watering interruptions. The low battery indicator is a helpful reminder.
- Utilize Independent Zones: Take advantage of the three independent outlets to customize watering for different areas of your garden, such as delicate flowers, thirsty vegetables, or lawn sections.
- Understand 'How Often': If you set the frequency to '1 Day', the timer will water every day at the programmed start time. Adjust this setting to match your specific irrigation needs.
- Rain Delay vs. Sensor: The HCT-378 features a rain delay function, which is manually activated to pause watering. It does not have an automatic rain sensor.
