1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

  • This device is designed for outdoor use with water. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.
  • Do not submerge the timer in water. While it has an IPX5 rating for water resistance, it is not waterproof.
  • Use only 2x1.5V 'AA' Alkaline Batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.
  • The timer is not anti-freezing. When the ambient temperature is expected to drop below 3°C (37.4°F), remove the timer from the faucet, drain any internal water, and store it indoors to prevent damage.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • A: Current Time - Displays the current time.

5. Setup

5.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the timer.
  2. Open the compartment cover.
  3. Insert two (2) new 1.5V 'AA' Alkaline Batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely. The timer display should activate.

5.2. Connecting to Faucet

  1. Ensure the O-ring is properly seated in the timer's inlet connector.
  2. Screw the timer onto your outdoor faucet. The 360° movable connector allows for easy positioning.
  3. If your faucet has a different thread size, use the appropriate adapter (e.g., 1/2" adapter for Type-A models) to ensure a secure fit.
  4. Hand-tighten only. Do not overtighten.

5.3. Connecting Irrigation System

  1. Connect your garden hose or irrigation system (e.g., drip irrigation, sprinklers) to the 3/4" outlet fitting at the bottom of the timer.
  2. If your system uses a quick connector, attach it to the timer's outlet.

6. Operation

6.1. Setting Current Time

  1. Press the 'OK' button to enter settings mode.

6.2. Programming an Automatic Watering Schedule

The timer allows you to set three main parameters for automatic watering: 'START TIME', 'HOW LONG' (duration), and 'HOW OFTEN' (frequency).

  1. Set 'START TIME': Press 'OK' until 'START TIME' flashes. Use '+' and '-' to set the desired start time for irrigation. Press 'OK' to confirm.
  2. Set 'HOW LONG' (Irrigation Duration): Press 'OK' until 'HOW LONG' flashes. Use '+' and '-' to set the duration from 1 second to 99 minutes. Press 'OK' to confirm.
  3. Set 'HOW OFTEN' (Irrigation Frequency): Press 'OK' until 'HOW OFTEN' flashes. Use '+' and '-' to set the frequency from 1 hour to 15 days. Press 'OK' to confirm.
  4. Once all settings are confirmed, the timer will display 'NEXT START' indicating when the next cycle will begin.

6.3. Manual Watering

To water manually without affecting your programmed schedule:

  1. Press the water drop icon button (usually labeled 'ON' or 'MANUAL').
  2. The display will show a manual watering duration. Use '+' and '-' to adjust the desired manual watering time.
  3. Press 'OK' to start manual watering.
  4. To stop manual watering, press the 'ESC/OFF' button.

6.4. Delay Function

The 'DELAY' button allows you to postpone the next scheduled watering cycle. This is useful if it has rained or if you need to temporarily pause irrigation.

  1. Press the 'DELAY' button.
  2. Use '+' and '-' to set the delay duration (e.g., 1 hour, 2 hours, etc.).
  3. Press 'OK' to confirm the delay. The timer will resume its schedule after the delay period.

6.5. Turning Off the Timer

To turn off all watering (automatic and manual), press the 'ESC/OFF' button until the display indicates 'OFF' or the watering icon is no longer active.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning the Filter

The HCT-322 includes a removable filter to prevent debris from entering the timer and your irrigation system. Regularly check and clean the filter to ensure optimal performance.

  1. Turn off the water supply to the faucet.

7.2. Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator on the display shows low power, replace the batteries promptly to avoid interruption of your watering schedule. The battery life is typically ≥6 months.

  1. Open the battery compartment.
  2. Remove the old batteries.
  3. Insert two (2) new 1.5V 'AA' Alkaline Batteries, observing correct polarity.
  4. Close the compartment securely.

7.3. Winterization

As noted in the safety information, the timer is not anti-freezing. To prevent damage during cold weather:

  • Before temperatures drop below 3°C (37.4°F), disconnect the timer from the faucet and any hoses.
  • Drain all water from the timer. You may need to shake it gently to ensure all water is removed.
  • Store the timer indoors in a dry, frost-free location until warmer weather returns.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Timer not activating/no water flow:
    • Check battery level and replace if low.
    • Ensure the faucet is fully open.
    • Verify that the 'HOW LONG' and 'HOW OFTEN' settings are correctly programmed and not set to '0'.
    • Check for sufficient water pressure (minimum 0.05Mpa).
    • Ensure the timer is not in 'OFF' mode or 'DELAY' mode.
  • Water leaking from connections:
    • Ensure all connections are hand-tightened.
    • Check if the O-ring is properly seated and not damaged. Replace if necessary.
    • Ensure the filter is clean and not obstructing the seal.
  • Inaccurate watering schedule:
    • Re-check your 'START TIME', 'HOW LONG', and 'HOW OFTEN' settings.
    • Ensure the 'NOW' (Current Time) is set accurately.
  • Display is blank or dim:
    • Replace batteries.
    • Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
