6. Operating Instructions
6.1 AC/DC Voltage Measurement
The ANENG CM82 features dual impedance voltage detection. The "V" gear uses a 10MΩ high input impedance for general AC and DC voltage detection. The "V LowZ" gear uses a 600KΩ low input impedance, which helps avoid measurement errors from stray or false voltages, ensuring accurate voltage detection.
- Connect the black test lead to the COM terminal and the red test lead to the VΩHz terminal.
- Turn the dial to the desired AC (V~) or DC (V-) voltage gear.
- Use the SEL button to switch between AC and DC voltage measurement if needed.
- Touch the probes to the correct test points of the circuit to measure the voltage.
- Read the measured voltage on the LCD display.

6.2 AC/DC Current Measurement
The clamp meter allows for non-contact measurement of AC and DC current.
- Ensure the test leads are not inserted into the jacks.
- Turn the dial to the current gear (A~ for AC, A- for DC).
- Push the jaw trigger to open the clamp jaws.
- Center the single wire within the clamp jaws. For accurate readings, only measure a single-strand wire (zero line or fire line). Common electrical appliance power lines containing multiple core wires cannot be measured accurately.
- Read the measured current on the display.

6.3 Inrush Current Measurement (AC/DC Surge Current)
This function measures the surge current when an appliance or motor starts up.
- Turn the dial to the current gear (A~ for AC, A- for DC).
- Press the "INR/PEAK" button to enter the inrush current measurement mode. The display will show "INRUSH".
- Push the jaw trigger and clamp the single-strand wire of the appliance.
- Start the appliance (e.g., air conditioner, car engine). The instrument will capture the current at the moment of startup.
- Read the measured inrush current on the display.

6.4 Resistance Measurement
- Connect the black test lead to the COM terminal and the red test lead to the VΩHz terminal.
- Turn the dial to the resistance (Ω) gear.
- Touch the probes to the desired test points of the circuit to measure the resistance.
- Read the measured resistance on the display.
Caution: Disconnect circuit power and discharge all capacitors before testing resistance.
6.5 Diode Measurement
- Connect the black test lead to the COM terminal and the red test lead to the VΩHz terminal.
- Turn the dial to the diode (→|) gear.
- Press SEL once to enter diode measurement mode.
- Connect the red probe to the anode side and the black probe to the cathode side of the diode to be tested.
- Read the forward biased voltage value on the display. If the polarity is reversed or the diode is broken, the display will show "OL".
6.6 Continuity Measurement
- Connect the black test lead to the COM terminal and the red test lead to the VΩHz terminal.
- Turn the dial to the continuity (Ω) gear.
- Press SEL again to enter continuity measurement mode.
- Touch the probes to the desired test points of the circuit.
- The built-in beeper will sound if the resistance is lower than 50Ω, indicating continuity.
6.7 Capacitance Measurement
- Connect the black test lead to the COM terminal and the red test lead to the VΩHz terminal.
- Turn the dial to the capacitance (F) gear.
- Connect the red probe to the positive side and the black probe to the negative side of the capacitor to be tested.
- Read the measured capacitance value on the display.
Caution: Discharge all capacitors before testing capacitance to avoid high voltage hazards.
6.8 Frequency Measurement (Hz)
- Connect the black test lead to the COM terminal and the red test lead to the VΩHz terminal.
- Turn the dial to the Hz gear.
- For AC current frequency, clamp the wire and the meter will display the frequency.
- For AC voltage frequency, touch the probes to the desired test points of the circuit.
- Read the measured frequency value on the display.
6.9 NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Measurement
- Long press the SEL/NCV button for over 2 seconds to toggle to the NCV mode.
- Hold the product and move it near a potential AC voltage source.
- The built-in beeper will sound, and the screen will display "----" when AC voltage is detected. The stronger the voltage, the quicker the beeper sounds.
- To judge Live (L-line) or Neutral (N-line): Insert the red probe into the VΩHz terminal, then use the black probe to touch the Live line and Neutral line of the main supply. If you hear strong beeps, it's the L-line; otherwise, it's the N-line.

6.10 Temperature Measurement
- Connect the black thermocouple probe to the COM terminal and the red thermocouple probe to the VΩHz terminal.
- Turn the dial to the temperature (°C/°F) test gear. The screen will display the normal ambient temperature by default.
- Touch the probes to the object whose temperature you wish to measure.
- Read the measured temperature on the display.
Caution: Do NOT input voltage in Temperature Mode.
6.11 Peak Hold
- Turn the dial to the voltage measuring gear.
- Insert the test leads.
- Press the "INR/PEAK" button once to activate the peak hold function. The display will show "PEAK HOLD".
- Contact the correct test point on the circuit with the test leads.
- The meter will hold the peak voltage reading.
6.12 Automatic Shut-down
- The product automatically powers off after 15 minutes of inactivity.
- The built-in beeper will sound 5 times one minute before power off.
- To restart the product, press any button.
- To disable the Auto Power Off function, hold down the SEL/NCV button when turning on the product. You will hear the buzzer sound four times, and the "APO" symbol in the upper left corner of the screen will disappear, indicating that the automatic shutdown has been canceled.
