4. Installation Guide
4.1 Physical Installation
- Prepare your computer: Turn off your computer and unplug the power cord. Open the computer case.
- Select a PCI Express slot: Locate an available PCI Express x1, x4, x8, or x16 slot on your motherboard.
- Install the adapter card: Carefully insert the FV-AC1200 adapter into the chosen PCI Express slot until it is firmly seated. Secure the card with a screw if your case requires it. If your computer case is a low-profile design, you may need to replace the pre-installed full-height bracket with the provided low-profile bracket.
- Connect the Bluetooth USB cable: Connect the 9-pin USB cable (black end) to an available 9-pin USB 2.0 header on your motherboard. Connect the white end of the cable to the corresponding socket on the FV-AC1200 adapter card. This connection is essential for Bluetooth functionality.
- Attach the antennas: Screw the two high-gain dual-band antennas onto the connectors on the back of the adapter card. Ensure they are securely tightened.
- Close the computer case: Once the card is installed and antennas are attached, close your computer case and reconnect the power cord.
4.2 Driver Installation
After physical installation, you need to install the drivers for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality. These drivers are separate.
- Download Drivers: It is highly recommended to download the latest drivers from the official FENVI website: https://www.fenvi.com/drive.html?keyword=FV-AC1200. If you do not have internet access on the computer, use the provided driver CD.
- Install Wi-Fi Driver: Locate and run the Wi-Fi driver setup file. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- Install Bluetooth Driver: Locate and run the Bluetooth driver setup file. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- Restart Computer: After installing both drivers, restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Connecting to Wi-Fi
- After successful driver installation and computer restart, click on the Wi-Fi icon in your system tray (usually bottom-right corner of the screen).
- A list of available Wi-Fi networks will appear. Select your desired network (either 2.4GHz or 5GHz band for optimal performance).
- Enter the network password if prompted and click 'Connect'.
- Your computer should now be connected to the Wi-Fi network.
5.2 Pairing Bluetooth Devices
- Ensure the Bluetooth USB cable is correctly connected to your motherboard and the adapter.
- Go to your computer's Bluetooth settings (e.g., Windows Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices).
- Turn on Bluetooth.
- Put your Bluetooth device (e.g., headphones, speaker, keyboard) into pairing mode.
- Click 'Add Bluetooth or other device' on your computer and select 'Bluetooth'.
- Select your device from the list and follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.

6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Bluetooth Not Working
- Check USB Cable: Ensure the 9-pin USB cable (black) is correctly connected from the adapter card to a 9-pin USB 2.0 header on your motherboard. This cable is crucial for Bluetooth functionality.
- Install Bluetooth Driver: Verify that the Bluetooth driver has been installed correctly. If not, download and install it from the FENVI website.
6.2 Wi-Fi Not Working
- Check Device Manager: Open Device Manager (right-click Start button > Device Manager). Look for 'Network adapters'. If you see a network controller with a yellow exclamation mark, the driver is not installed or is faulty.
- Install/Update Wi-Fi Driver: If a yellow exclamation mark is present, install the Wi-Fi driver. If the driver is already installed but still shows a warning, right-click the device, select 'Update driver', and manually point to the driver file path.
- Antenna Connection: Ensure both antennas are securely attached to the adapter card.
- M.2 Hardware Conflict: Some motherboards may have M.2 slots that share PCI-E lanes, potentially causing conflicts. If you have an M.2 hard disk in a parallel channel, try unplugging it to see if the Wi-Fi issue resolves.
- Built-in Wi-Fi: If your desktop computer has a built-in Wi-Fi function, please disable it in Device Manager when using the FV-AC1200 to avoid conflicts.
6.3 Compatibility Issues
- AMD Chipset Motherboards: This adapter is generally NOT compatible with AMD chipset motherboards.
- Specific Desktop Brands: This adapter is NOT suitable for IBM/Lenovo/HP version desktop computers.
7. User Tips
- PCI-E Slot Flexibility: If the adapter does not function correctly in a PCI-E X1 slot, try installing it in a PCI-E X4 or X16 slot on your motherboard.
- Separate Drivers: Remember that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions require separate driver installations. Ensure both are installed for full functionality.
- Disable Onboard Wi-Fi: If your desktop PC has integrated Wi-Fi, disable it in your system's Device Manager before using the FENVI FV-AC1200 to prevent potential conflicts.
