Setup Guide
- Connect Power: Connect the data cable to the 3D pen and plug the power adapter into a suitable power outlet. The LED screen will light up.
- Select Filament Type: Use the filament selection button (refer to Figure 1) to choose between PLA or ABS mode. The selected mode will be displayed on the LED screen.
- Preheating: The pen will automatically begin preheating to the optimum temperature for the selected filament type. Wait until the indicator light or screen shows it has reached the target temperature (e.g., 160-180℃ for PLA, 180-210℃ for ABS).
- Load Filament: Once preheated, insert the end of the 1.75mm filament into the loading/unloading port. Press and hold the "Load Filament" button. The pen's internal motor will automatically feed the filament. Continue holding until melted filament starts extruding from the nozzle.
- Ready to Use: Release the "Load Filament" button. Your SUNLU SL-200 3D pen is now ready for drawing.
Operation
Drawing and Extrusion
- To start extruding filament, press and hold the "Load Filament" button.
- To stop extrusion, release the "Load Filament" button.
- Move the pen to draw your desired shapes and objects.
Adjusting Speed
- The SL-200 features a sliding speed control mechanism. Adjust the slider (refer to Figure 1) to increase or decrease the filament extrusion speed.
- Experiment with different speeds to achieve desired line thickness and control.
Changing Filament
- Ensure the pen is powered on and at operating temperature.
- Press and hold the "Unload Filament" button. The pen will reverse the motor to eject the current filament.
- Once the filament is fully ejected, release the button.
- Insert the new filament into the loading/unloading port and follow the "Load Filament" steps from the Setup Guide.
Maintenance
- Nozzle Cleaning: The pen features a knob pen cover, making it easy to access and maintain the nozzle. Regularly check the nozzle for any clogged or burnt filament. Use the provided cleaning tool (if included) or a thin wire to clear any obstructions when the pen is hot.
- Cool Down: Always allow the pen to cool down completely after use before storing it.
- Storage: Store the 3D pen in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Ensure no filament is left loaded in the pen during long periods of storage.
- Filament Storage: Store filaments in a sealed bag with desiccant to prevent moisture absorption, which can affect printing quality.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Filament not extruding | Nozzle clogged, incorrect temperature, filament not loaded correctly. | Clean the nozzle. Ensure correct filament type and temperature are selected. Re-load filament, ensuring it's fully inserted. |
| Filament jams inside the pen | Filament end is not cut straight, foreign object, incorrect filament diameter. | Cut the filament end cleanly before loading. Try unloading and reloading. Ensure you are using 1.75mm filament. |
| Pen not heating up | Power connection issue, faulty heating element. | Check power cable connection. Ensure adapter is working. If problem persists, contact support. |
| Poor extrusion quality (uneven, bubbly) | Moisture in filament, incorrect temperature, speed too high/low. | Ensure filament is dry. Adjust temperature within recommended range. Experiment with speed control. |
User Tips
- Always cut the end of the filament at an angle before inserting it into the pen to ensure smooth loading.
- For best results, use high-quality PLA or ABS filaments from reputable brands.
- Practice on a flat, heat-resistant surface to get a feel for the pen's speed and extrusion.
- Use the included finger caps to protect your fingers from the hot nozzle during operation.
