5. Setup
Follow these steps to prepare your AUTOOL BT860 for use:
- Ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and all accessories are turned off.
- Locate the vehicle's battery.
- Connect the red (positive) clamp of the tester to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
- Connect the black (negative) clamp of the tester to the negative (-) terminal of the battery.

6.1. Menu Navigation

6.2. Battery Type Selection
Before performing any test, ensure you select the correct battery type for accurate results. The BT860 supports:

6.3. Battery Test (Battery Capacity)
- From the Main Menu, select "1. BATTERY CAPACITY".
- Follow the on-screen prompts, which may include selecting battery type and inputting CCA rating.
- The device will perform the test and display results such as: Healthy percentage, Charge percentage, Voltage, Internal Resistance (Internal R), Rated CCA, and a general status (e.g., "GREAT").

6.4. Cranking Test
This test evaluates the battery's ability to start the engine.
- From the Main Menu, select "2. CRANKING TEST".
- The screen will prompt: "Make sure engine and all loads in OFF status then press [Enter]".
- Press the 'OK' button and then start the engine as instructed.
- The device will display the cranking time and cranking voltage, along with a status (e.g., "CRANKING GOOD").

6.5. Charging System Test
This test assesses the vehicle's charging system (alternator, regulator, etc.).
- From the Main Menu, select "3. CHARGE SYSTEM".
- The screen will prompt: "Turn on all loads Speed up to 2500 RPM then press [Enter]".
- Follow the instructions: turn on headlights, AC, radio, etc., then rev the engine to approximately 2500 RPM and press 'OK'.
- The device will display Ripple voltage, Loaded voltage, and Unloaded voltage, along with a status (e.g., "CHARGE GOOD").

6.6. Data Review
The BT860 stores previously measured data for later review.
- From the Main Menu, select "4. DATA REVIEW".
- Use the arrow buttons to scroll through stored test results.
