Fitting and Rail Measurements
Component | Measurement |
---|---|
Fitting | 6.5mm (1/4″) |
Rail | 10mm (3/8″), 25mm (1″), 35mm (1 3/8″) |
Hex on Shaft | 7mm |
Glue | 1/2″ (48mm) |
Installation Steps
- After drilling the 1/4″ (6.5mm) hole, insert the railbolt shaft using a 7mm wrench or Deep Socket Tool (Zipbolt 40.520 Deep Socket available).
- Bore the 1″ (25mm) hole first, then intersect with the 3/8″ (10mm) hole.
- Assemble rail and fitting dry to check fit using T30 Drive. Use glue on final assembly.
- Apply glue to edges of the plug and cover the 1″ (25mm) diameter hole in the bottom of the rail. Sand smooth.
Optional Preparation Method
Make a template by cutting a 3/16″ (5mm) wafer from the appropriate handrail. Measure on the centerline 15/16″ (24mm) from the bottom of the rail. Drill a 1/16″ (2mm) diameter hole as shown in Figure 1.
Using the template, write “rail” on one side and “fitting” on the other side. Align the template and mark the rail and fitting as shown in Figure 2.
