Components and Accessories

  • Installation Accessory: Railbolt Drill Guide 40.260
  • Installation Accessory: Deep Socket Tool 40.520
  • T30 Drive: Hand tighten or use drill with low torque setting. Do not use impact drill.

Installation Steps

  1. After drilling the 1/4″ (6.5mm) hole, insert the railbolt shaft using a 7mm wrench or Deep Socket Tool (Zipbolt 40.520 Deep Socket available).
  2. Bore the 1″ (25mm) hole first, then intersect with the 3/8″ (10mm) hole.ZIPBOLT-T30-Railbolt- (2)
  3. Assemble rail and fitting dry to check fit using T30 Drive. Use glue on final assembly.ZIPBOLT-T30-Railbolt- (3)
  4. Apply glue to edges of the plug and cover the 1″ (25mm) diameter hole in the bottom of the rail. Sand smooth.

Optional Preparation Method

Make a template by cutting a 3/16″ (5mm) wafer from the appropriate handrail. Measure on the centerline 15/16″ (24mm) from the bottom of the rail. Drill a 1/16″ (2mm) diameter hole as shown in Figure 1.

Using the template, write “rail” on one side and “fitting” on the other side. Align the template and mark the rail and fitting as shown in Figure 2.

Can I use an impact drill for installation?

No, do not use an impact drill for installing the railbolt.

What should I do if the railbolt is dropped on the shaft?

The railbolt can be easily tightened by using a wrench or Deep Socket Tool.
