  • The test should be performed at ambient temperature 18–30 °C (46–86 °F).
  • Bring kit components to ambient temperature if stored below 18 °C.
  • Do not open the strip pouch until ready to use the strip.

Installation Instructions

  1. To calibrate the Vertu TOUCH reader:
    • Scan the Fumo-V (D) barcode for the Lot# of strips being used. [Barcode remains stored in Vertu TOUCH reader for future use.]Vicam-TOUCH-Procedure-for-Feed-fig-1
  2. Weigh 5 g ± 0.1 g finely ground sample into Vertu PREP tube.
    • Add 30 mL of purified water to Vertu PREP tube.
    • Close the lid, shake briefly to suspend dry sample.Vicam-TOUCH-Procedure-for-Feed-fig-2
  3. Set Vertu PREP mixer timer for 90 seconds. Push down the PREP tube and twist to lock in place; the mixer will start and stop automatically.
    • Filter the extract into a V-Filter with cup for no more than 5 minutes.Vicam-TOUCH-Procedure-for-Feed-fig-3
  4. Add 200 μL ONE Diluent into a new strip test vial, add 100 μL of filtered extract into the same vial, cover and mix well by shaking 3 times.Vicam-TOUCH-Procedure-for-Feed-fig-4
  5. Transfer 100 μL of diluted extract from step 4 to the Fumo-V strip by dropping (~1 drop/second) vertically into the sample well.
    • Allow the strip to develop for exactly 5 minutes on a flat surface.Vicam-TOUCH-Procedure-for-Feed-fig-5
  6. While strip test develops, enter the sample ID into Vertu TOUCH reader.
    • Fully insert the Fumo-V strip into the Vertu TOUCH (the round opening in first)
    • Press [Start Measurement] on screen.Vicam-TOUCH-Procedure-for-Feed-fig-6
  7. Press [Print] to print the result.
    • Press [Same Barcode] to run the next test using the same lot of strips.
    • Press [Change Barcode] to change the method or lot of strips being used.Vicam-TOUCH-Procedure-for-Feed-fig-7
